This process is horrible! We broke up several times during the process, it was just sooo stressful! Maybe you guys can fix whatever happened. My fiancé also got cold feet on January, but everything turned out well. Now I am ready to go to his next month and marry on December.

We had a tough road so far.

After more than a year, distance tires you so much. Every little thing can turn up to be a huge thing.

I am stressful too and took off my stress on him sometimes. That exhausted him and the distance didn't help at all.

I'm trying to make him understand that when we finally be together, everything will be better. But he is sure, it won't. I can't do much to convince him.

Thank you all so much.

I hope no one will ever have to go through this.

I think a relationship that survives through this process should be able to make it through anything! But I share the sentiment. Keep hope. It might still work out. If you love each other, do what you have to do. Mine & I have had our share of "tiffs" during all of this. It's just stressful being apart & dealing with everything.

2011 - Met online
2012/05/03 - Started "Dating"
2012/06/27-07/16 -
Met in Haiti/got engaged
2012/08/20 - I-129F Sent
2012/08/28-09/05 -
Second trip to Haiti
2012/08/28 - I-129F NOA1
2012/08/29 - Check Cashed
2012/08/31 - NOA1 Hard Copy Received
2012/09/05 - NOA2 (I-129F)
2012/09/10 - Emailed U.S. Embassy in Haiti for Packet 3.
2012/09/10 - NVC Received
2012/09/10 - NOA2 Hard-Copy
2012/09/11 - Called NVC to check status, told fiance's DOB is wrong, but it's right on both application forms. They said send birth cert & passport.
2012/09/13 - Submitted DS-156 online & printed copies (& emailed to both of us).
2012/09/14 - Emailed scanned copies of original application, birth cert & passport to NVC.
2012/09/14 - Called & insisted they fix THEIR mistake. Message forwarded to supervisor. Got an email within 30 minutes; fixed! Called & confirmed.
2012/09/19 - Still in AP (Administrative/Additional Processing)... waiting...
2012/09/25 - Left NVC
2013/01/08/18 -
Third trip to Haiti
2013/01/17 - K1 Visa Denied (he had been given a fake death certificate for his first wife who was killed in the 2010 earthquake)

It's definitively tough and ups and downs are worst then a no distance relationship. But just sit tight and breathe deep because everything will fall into the right place. I went through nine months of technology good and bad times but we made it. I agree with things being much better once you are together. I'm traveling to my fiance next week and couldn't be happier. Good luck and stay strong.

Long distance relationship like this is very fragile and needs a lot of protection.

Try to calm down. Find a way to meet each other. It's a painful process but I always remind myself we are not the only ones in the world who are suffering so I told my wife to be strong and our sweet days will come soon. I had to fly back to Taiwan to actually comfort her a couple of months ago but it was well wroth it. Try to cherish the relationship and hang there.

Good luck and take care!

I'm sorry this happened to you, and I know you probably won't like reading this but I think your fiance is doing the right thing by calling things off.

Don't get me wrong you are absolutely correct, that the distance does tend to make things bad, and cause much stress... And I'm sure that things would have indeed been better for you 2 after the wait was over... for a while that is. But I think that the major point you seem to be missing is that there will always be times in life that are very stressful. The K-1 process is not the only thing that will stress you out in life, and if your partner did not like what he saw in the way you handled your stress (by taking it out on him, repeatedly) and therefore decided you were not the right person for him, I think you should accept and respect that decision and not try to get back together with someone who does not see you as a good fit for him long term.

I guess what I'm saying is that it's not so wise to try and force a square peg into a round hole.

In the end, I'm of the belief that everything happens for a reason and I believe that there's a good chance a day will come in your future where you look back onto the events that are transpiring right now, and be thankful to your now ex-fiance for calling off this relationship.

Be hopeful for better days... they're always right around the corner anyways :). Best of luck to you

It is tough but if it is true love it's worth the wait. The time zone differences also don't help. I even went over to see her for a weekend a few times and that always seemed to help. She got here Sunday so it's all good now. Best of luck to you!

Long distance relationship is really hard.Me and my fiance have been through a lot of break ups,but we believe that we are not just meant to know each other but destined to be together. There are times that we got sick about this waiting, but we give each other a strength to to make it through.the most important thing with this kind of relationship is COMMUNICATION.But because of the long wait,we felt like we talked about everything and sometimes we just really look at each other on cam cuz we dont know what else to talk about. But for us,even if we dont have anything to talk about, with just one look we feel like we are talking. And yes, there small things that turns into a bigger deal. But with you, just try to work it out its not a bad thing. But if you feel that he really dont want to pursue this, then just move on.It will be hard but its not your loss,it will be his loss cuz he is not strong enough and his love is not enough to fight for it.

I have been in a distant relationship for almost 5 years now, and it's finally coming to an end in December, so i know how hard and frustrating it can be at times. I think being away from the one you love is the worst thing that can ever happen to you, but at the same time it is a very good test to see if you guys are really meant for each other. I mean if you cant make it through a year or two of being apart, how will you make it through a life time with him with all the other problems you may have to face someday?

There were times when it was really hard and I was not sure if I can actually keep on, but knowing one day we will have each other for good, was always motivation enough.

Maybe you guys just need a little distance from each other (talking about the chatting and phone calls) and then talk about everything when things have cooled off. You know they say "sometimes you gotta let things go, and if it comes back it is yours"

I would not give up yet!
