this thread is as useless as a bucket under a bull.

checking a few times a day doesn't take that much time and is optional.

so whats the big deal?

we are only sharing our experiences, it helps to lessen the stress of waiting, i hope you understand that too. it is not a big deal :) but i know people who can relate is happy to read this thread.

You are right, people who can relate will definitely read this thread.

For me, I'm not going to check until at least 5 months. Approved at the first step does not surprise me, but I'm looking into the last step when the visa is approved because it means we're going to be with our loved ones for the rest of our lives after we are done with our visa journey.

What's more idiotic is that I am only 2 months in and I check it daily but only once and I refresh just to make sure that I'm not looking at cached information.

I feel truly sorry for the VJers that go through all this nail biting ridiculous episodes and find out that (a) immigrant spouse was looking for just a way in to a green card and/or (b) decides to go back home because they can't fit in.

USCIS don't update your status until it is aproved. You can check for months and it will still show initial review.

uscis will show that your file was touched anytime they open it. And that will show on the website or send you a text message.

the first month was the worse for us. We was checking 3 times a day, which makes no sense since we were so early in the process. At that time VSC was going at a faster pace than now and the average was 4 months. My fiance and I have decided to make no plans until May (5 months). I forgot about the USCIS website until May because it was any day now. However, VSC began to slow down and our timeline was pushed down further and further. I checked so many times during May that I finally gave up. 5 months came and nothing. We put in a service request and wait. One day, I was really busy with work and I did not have to check my cellphone but I heard a text message alert. For some weird reason, I put down what I was doing and check my cell. It was a text from 3454 something and there it was...case EAC..... status has changed. Finally after 173 days we got approved. This process is so frustrating but in the end is worth it.
