is there something we cud do so we cud get an interview date asap? (email the embassy may be??) or how or.... nothing and just wait?

since we got a checklist on ds230 Q30 ( just missing the address since age 16,i started with 17), hubby called nvc and talked to Nigel. he was told that i can scan my completed and signed ds230, send it to him so he can then send it overnight via usps.

i just wana ask if this is ok? a scanned ds230? .. thanks

Eeeee! Just off the phone with NVC and our case was completed yesterday! Seems they finally got around to reviewing our response to their checklist!

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Saylin and everyone else on here who got us through this process! I seriously would have gotten a few extra grey hairs if it wasn't for the helpful folks on here. Cheers!

congrats looks like nvc takes 10 days to complete the case...additional 10 days for me then..hoping for less though

Thanks, Nat, you are absolutely right! That was my backup plan. Since I was waiting for my husband's IV stuff to arrive, I decided to give the IRS until today. If they had not made it here today, I would have gone with the copies of the returns.

I was not careful, and I accidentally ordered account transcripts, and not return transcripts. It's a little pull down on the online ordering site, and I was in a hurry, and did not make sure I selected the right thing. Totally my own fault.

I did the exact same thing because I did not know exactly "what" I was doing in the first place. Just a phone number listed is not an acceptable form of advising people "what" to do if they have never did this before. Fortunantly, I reordered them today and I am waiting on my case number from NVC to be assigned. But Friday will be 15 business days and now I will be waiting another couple of weeks for my "tax transcripts"...not my "account transcripts"!!! Had it not been for my son's financial aid office point this out to me this morning, I would have sent off my AOS incorrectly! So thankful that this was brought to light before I forwarded the documentation, although I do have my W-2's and a copy of my actual return for each year included. I'm going to write a procedure on doing this the correct way.

I am in your shoes.. they said we did not check the Military experience. Can you send the DS 230 without the cover letter?

Question about Visa delivery or pickup I see for Nigeria there's two places you can go but is there a way anyone knows if your Visa once approved can be like rushed or is it always that 7 to 10 business days stuff? How can one find out.

We can't tell if the information is "outdated" on the Lagos Consulate Website or if they are really charging an additional $400 BEFORE they will even interview our husbands! Clarification please, if anyone is on here and had been through the interview process or IR-1/CR-1 in Nigeria. Thanks!!!

Okay once for all for IR1/CR1 Visa filers at the embassy (Lagos to be exact) there is no fee right? Nothing nada zip. We paid all we need to at NVC correct.

In general, IR-1/CR-1 fees are collected at NVC stage. Only fees beneficiary is responsible to pay is Medical Exam Fees and VFS courier fees. I am not sure about Nigeria specific info but that's my general understanding to majority of foreign US consulates.

LOL I had asked this for you the other day since you aren't convinced. I have yet to know of one married person who paid anything at embassy as of late. That is outdated information. ONLY K1's have to pay embassy fee because they go through embassy not NVC for all their fee payments. Please rest your mind. Don't you think we all would know an extra $400 and than some. Goodness no way . LOL

Hi all, dunno where to post but i wanted to share this excitement news

our case completed!! it was on June 26, OMG! I'm so relieved now.

now another waiting game, how long does it take till we get an Interview date? (the average?? guesstimate? hhmm) i haven't done my medical exam yet, will do, may be when after we get the date

Most people get their interview date within a month, typically around 2 weeks. Nope. The only way you'd get your interview date faster is if you expedited. Just sit tight and wait. Call up NVC and DOS every day to see if an interview date has been scheduled.

Unfortunately, a signature is needed on that page, so a scanned copy wouldn't work as NVC only accepts original signatures. You'll need to print out that page of the DS-230 with the corrected information, sign it, and then mail it out.

I am in your shoes.. they said we did not check the Military experience. Can you send the DS 230 without the cover letter?

The cover letter is always optional. The bar-coded cover sheet is not optional though (unless you want to cause delays). Print out the IV bar-coded cover sheet from the payment portal and include that as the first page in your checklist response package.

The only fee an IR-1/CR-1 visa applicant would pay at the interview is a courier fee, but this varies by country. All visa fees are paid at the time of NVC for spousal visas.

To find out if there is or how much the courier fee is, you'll have to ask in the regional forums, as this is thread is in the general forums where all countries are.

This is usual. Give them a day or two and you will be able to login into the system to make AOS payment.
