it just says your case number and that it has been updated. the number that it comes from starts with a 3 and its a five digit number

I think all of mine said something like "Your case (insert case number here) is now updated." Then it included links to the USCIS website where you can go and check the updated status.

Don't remember but you would recognize it quickly! And it's possible you never receive it, this system is quite unreliable.

The email message contains more information on the case, e.g. when it's received/accepted, RFE, approval, denial.

No, the texts don't give approval information. Their emails do.

You Might not get a message till the case has been approved or denied (NOA2). I have gone 5 months without a text/touch/update, except for the original NOA1. Dont hold your breath onthe updates, but look out for the text of the Desicion NOA2, in the 5 or 6 month range. If more than that call them up and find out what happened!

Sorry, but I have to show what text I got today and I know it was from the gov because I have never gotten any text spam until I signed up for email and text notices from the USCIS two days ago. I mean seriously don't we have enough to be concerned about with our visas that we need spam??

I never received a text or e-mail. But I did receive NOA-1 (I-797)... and yes I did send a request for electronic notification.... no worries,
