My Fiance has a strange preference for food. For example, at Breakfast He only

wants to eat Pancakes, or French Toast, etc. I ask him before if he wants fish

and He told me ... " No, Fish is not for breakfast " ...

Is this normal of an American Guy ? Why he dont want Fish for breakfast ?

What planet is he from ?

maybe you can sneak up on him, with the 'waffles and fried chicken' breakfast.. over time, replace the fried chicken with a hunk of steamed white cod.

Its normal because fish is not a normal breakfast dish in the USA.

Fish is usually lunch or dinner meals.

agreed - american breakfast CAN be a ritual.

Suggest you 'cook all' including the fish, i think over time he'll get used to it. A pancake slathered in minced fish is delicious, I swear.

My american husband is slowly getting used to the scent of fried anchovies (or as Indonesians call it: Ikan teri)

But I doubt he will ever get used to the taste :lol:

Oh that reminds me.. almost time for my weekend ritual: rice with chili garlic paste and fried anchovies. Yum.

And yes, this will be my first meal of the day. So, it is fish breakfast today :thumbs:

Rituals of life are all about location.

During the two months I was staying in the Phils some mornings I ate fish and rice, sometimes I cooked and it was waffled, french toast, eggs and bacon (but no pancakes - yuck!) Ok eggs and bacon was breakfast when I didn't cook sometimes also. I like fish (except for salty fish) so eating fish for breakfast was fine for me.

Now that we are home we have never had fish or rice for breakfast..

Most guys I know here prefer Chitllins for breakfast. I must say the first time I had chow with the Inlaws they served Dinugan. I felt it was a test of sorts and ate it with a smile. Although the blood taste was a little strong. Kind of a Iron taste.

He's definitely from earth. Food is a big part of individual's culture. Food preference depends on one's geographical culture.

Philippines have dried fish and rice for breakfast as it is surrounded by sea and have vast rice farming land. America have four seasons and different food resources availability that affect the way people prepared food.

True, American't don't eat fish much for breakfast. The normal breakfast here would consist of some of the following, breakfast cereal, eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles, toast, yogurt....
