Birth Control

Indeed ... I managed to track down 'C.A.S.H.' in one of

the larger medical centers here in my town.

It's the Contraception And Sexual Health department.

They asked me to call back for an appointment after

the long bank holiday (for The Jubilee stuff).

I explained my situation and my current status here in

England, and they felt sure they could assist me

Thank you ... everyone .... for the variety of viewpoints

and advice (F)

It still doesn't leave me very happy in my mind on my man's

view of pregnancy and hospitals and such, but in the mean

time ... it seems I can at least control stuff on my end

until me and him can start seeing eye-to-eye on these issues.

I know in the UK there is a different approach to birth but not as different as his views seem to be. But prenatal care is very good. My blood pressure rose at the end and a midwife came to my house and took my blood pressure every day, thats how seriously they take those things.

In the hospital they dont dish out pain relief unless you beg for it and they send you home pretty quickly unless you have complications. So there will be some level of cultural difference, but i dont really know where he gets the idea that children can just pop out in your living room with no medical attention at all. The reason women dont die from birth anymore is because we take a different approach to birth to 100 years ago. Ask him where he is going to put a placenta! The response could be brilliant

At one point yes .. I'm the US citizen and he's British.

He used to live in California, and got into some trouble

with the law and was deported in 1996.

When he explained the severity of his crimes, I realized

after we'd filed the I-130 that USCIS probably wouldn't

welcome him back to the USA with open arms.

i'm curious. care to share?

i'm curious. care to share?

Was deported sometime in 1996.

The crime leading up to that was that he was caught carrying methamphetamine and

related paraphernalia (He said it was his friend Alex's, and not his,

because Alex was too paranoid to carry drugs) and served 30 days in county jail.

Straight after jail he was transferred to an immigration detention center while travel

documents were being got.

So glad to hear you're taking control of this, Adriene! :)

TY

PS ... I'd never had a crumpet before I came to England.

They are one of my favorite things now!

what a bummer! I have yet to meet the man who doesn't mind using condoms on a regular basis. However, if I told my husband to wear a condom, a tiara, fairy wings, and a big bird nose before we do it, guess what? He would. He also pays his half of my BC.

Of course you're not ready to procreate with a man who currently cannot (and who knows when?) enter the United States. And clearly, from his personal point of view of pregnancy and childbirth, it is all up to you to take care of your body and the consequences.

And concerning abstaining, whether or not you are taking BC or are against it, do you really want to have sex with someone who disregards/lacks empathy towards his partner and the consequences of his actions? Sometimes a break does good.

Agreed. My husband too HATES condoms (now he knows what it's like without one) and I mentioned that my Implanon's expiry was approaching and maybe he'd have to use them 'cause it costs over $200 to get one here from Planned Parenthood. He doesn't WANT to enough that he'll save the money to get me a new rod and this one removed, but if we don't save the money in time then he'll wear them.. when it's a decision between no sex or wear a condom I think I know what most guys would pick!!

I just really feel like this is a manipulation. He figures you'll give in before he does (and you did because you're getting the pill). What probably would worry me a fair bit is if he doesn't like wearing condoms with YOU does that mean he never wore them with his past girls or tried not to? And if so... when was the last time he was tested for STI's? Because it only takes once...

He did give me an answer to that question and he said he

didn't need to wear condoms with his past girlfriends

because they couldn't get pregnant. One had an eating

disorder and her period was all messed up, and another

one was on the depo shot. Of course there was the girl

he dated when he was 16 back in California, and that

ended up with a kid. I asked him why they didn't use

anything back then and he just was like "We didn't even

think about it at the time."

Another reason he's given me is that he can't stay hard with one.
