I trust him not to cross the line....he's not a "chatter" anyway. He didn't even have any chat type mechanisms until I downloaded one for him.

edited to say: I realized I didn't answer your question. I guess if he was chatting one on one ALL THE TIME with one particular person I'd be upset...but just every day chatting, once or twice, here or there...i'd be ok :)

Depends on a lot....was the relationship established before we met, is it on a forum or website for common interests (hobbies, motorcycles, etc) or a pick up site and does he/she try to hide it or are they open and honest about it? Depending on the answers, I may have very different thoughts, lol!

We spent 3 + years chatting to each other and now that we are together the chat programs are very seldom operated. So at this point any chat with someone other than a family member or very dear friend would be crossing the line, because in my opinion there is no longer a need to chat with anyone else but lil o'me! :P

My fiancee' and I are both role-players, as opposed to chatters. It adds a level of complexity as you are playing as a character, but even so, we've generally agreed between ourselves that we Rp our characters in relationships with each other, and not with other people. Saves for problems down the line.

As for anything else, I do agree with the idea of 'When they start to hide it'. My ex was constantly, from the first time I met him, hiding chat logs. It's a big sign that something isn't right.

Going too far would be when the person is trying to get too close in a more than friendly way. Anghel and I both have men and women on our messenger lists. I personally don't like it when girls send a whole bunch of pictures to him of themselves. It annoys me very much. He does tell me about it though. If they start going lovey on him, he won't speak to them anymore which is also what I do if a guy gets that way with me.

We met in a chatroom and have both run one for 4 years. Dave doesn't chat as much as I do, but that's due to work and he prefers to play online games instead now.

He has no problem with me chatting, I guess the line would be crossed if I was talking one on one with a guy and hiding it from him, which he knows I refuse to do. Every conversation I have is in the main room in view of everyone.

It's quite interesting the number of guys who we both mutually know, who will try their best to get me to talk privately with them. I wonder if it's the challenge they like.

Cams are another bad move in my view. The "I don't have a pic, but I can put my cam on for you" line is a classic.... Nooooo thanks, I'll live without knowing! Cams are evil.
