I called NVC to see if my file has been sent to the embassy yet and they stated that my file was under "additional processing". What in the world does that mean???????

It means they're still looking over your file. Keep calling to check on your status. I was told the same, they had ours for 2 weeks. Good Luck :)

I'm in the same boat. From what I have been reading, they pick so many cases at random to do further checks. It can last from a few days up until a few weeks. I'm upset because it took 8 months to get the noa2, and now this. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that it will not be long.

Some K1's are held in NVC for AP. They started doing this routinely a few years ago. They are doing some checking of their own, name checks, that sort of thing. When I was stuck there, we were held up nearly 8 weeks. Times lately have come down quite a lot. We were told back then that it was random.

There are a couple of threads, one pinned, and one new, which I will give you the links for. The pinned thread has got some useful info in it still.

It does not matter where you come from, for K1 AP at NVC. This is true at the consulate level for higher fraud countries after the NOA2, but there are people from all over who end up in AP at NVC who are filing for K1's.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Is Peru one of those countries?

There is, officially, no list that says This Is a High Fraud Country. There are several countries that have been seen to have higher incidents of fraud, for VJ purposes. I have not heard of Peru being treated as a high fraud country.

Middle East and Africa, India and the sub-continent, the far east except South Korea and Japan, can be considered as high fraud. Genrally South America is not except Ecuador which is for no apparent reason. Europe, Australia, Canada are generally pretty easy. Nigeria is all on its own a known category for fraud.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Thanks everyone for the quick reply's I already feel more relaxed. I actually called back NVC cause the first woman who told me that info seemed to me to be extremely rude and mean. I called back 30 min later and a new agent pulled up my file and mentioned to me that everything was ok and that I was "misinformed". She said they received my packet only this last Friday and to check back by the end of the week to see if it has left to embassy yet!

There is no official list. I am quite sure some countries warrant extra scrutiny.

Hello all,

Yeah, I am starting to wonder if our approved K-1 petition is now stalled at the NVC for "additional processing." It was delivered to the NVC at 2 April 2012. When I called today to inquire if it had been sent to GUZ, I was told that there may be some additional processing with our petition. I am going to call again tomorrow, and politely inquire about the shipping status of the file.... I am a little suspicious, the NVC lady sounded a little evasive.... I hope that I am reading too much into this....

I have my fingers crossed.....
