They never did send us an notice. They said the would, but nothing ever came. The only way we knew, is that having been there almost 8 weeks, we were in the habit of ringing every other day. ONe fine night, they just told us we were out of AP and been sent on.

Ditto - even though they told us they would notify us they never did. After 50 days (and calling twice a week) we finally heard the magic words that our case had been sent on.

If you are in AP you should keep calling so that you know when you case has actually been sent on.

A&B we were in AP for 4 weeks this time last year at NVC. I had a particularly friendly visa specialist tell me that Additional Processing and Administrative Processing are essentially the same thing for a K-1 at the NVC stage so I shouldn't worry. She told me it was "Name Checks" and it was perfectly normal. She actually said that Administrative Processing means "we are processing your file".

Hang in there.

Hey Operator and to the other responders,

Thanks for the information and the words of encouragement.

It is helpful to read of your recent past personal experience with the same situation. It is this kind of support that makes the VJ site invaluable for so many people on their visa journey.

I will be giving NVC another follow-up call tomorrow, Monday will be the two week mark for our petition at the NVC. In the meantime, my fiancee has been working on the forms in the GUZ Packet 3 and I have been putting some finishing up touches on the I-134. We want to be prepared for the next step in our immigration journey.

Nice!

Within the next week or so you need to start your calling pattern with them to know when it's received. Once you get that received status your better half can send her P3 info in.

Sounds good!

I used the method described in this DHL tracking thread this morning. After a little experimenting with the dates. I think that I found THE package that left Portsmouth/Boston on 13 April and arrived in Guangzhou DHL on 16 April. It is currently awaiting diplomatic clearance. I will give the hard workers at GUZ a week, and then email them for a status update. You mentioned a calling pattern??? Is it preferred to contact DOS at 1-202-663-1225, or email contact the consulate using the GUZ online form? Then like you said, I will get the boss to send in her packet....

I just finished up my I-134 packet on the weekend, so that is ready to go.

Wow, it is moving along now! This sure beats the "NOA1-NOA2 protracted waiting in the doldrums" syndrome!

谢谢, .... :)

Sorry to say this but tracking that DHL package, while fun, is in-accurate and in my opinion a waste of time. That DHL package which may or may not have your petition in it is bound for a warehouse in Guangzhou to sit in customs/bond/purgatory. From what I have seen recently several K-1 petitions have been going electronically as well.

You can email GUZ IV unit and get a response overnight usually, they seem to be fairly responsive.

You need to start calling DOS, talk to a visa specialist twice a week or so until you hear that your package received. Then you will keep calling until they say package 3 sent. Then you follow Uncle Darnell's wiki here http://www.visajourn...GUZ_P3_Shortcut

DOS can see the updates that GUZ makes in the system. Make friends with a visa specialist, they are your new best friend.

I can appreciate your reservations about the DHL method, it seems to rely on the assumption that you mentioned. I agree that emailing the GUZ IV unit seems to work, I have used it once already, for another question. They did respond quickly.

I will follow your advice about calling DOS twice weekly. Yep, I already have Uncle Darnell's wiki bookmarked, good advice. I am looking forward to having a new best friend, my DOS visa specialist.

谢谢.
