NVC ADDITIONAL PROCESSING???

Back when they started doing this with K1's, the would not tell you if you were in AP, unless you asked the direct question. I am not sure if that is still the case. I'd ask. They sent us 3 letters saying it would be sent on, all dated within the same week, but they still kept it there a further 7. I'm happy to say it takes less time than that these days :)

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Hello all,

Yeah, I am starting to wonder if our approved K-1 petition is now stalled at the NVC for "additional processing." It was delivered to the NVC at 2 April 2012. When I called today to inquire if it had been sent to GUZ, I was told that there may be some additional processing with our petition. I am going to call again tomorrow, and politely inquire about the shipping status of the file.... I am a little suspicious, the NVC lady sounded a little evasive.... I hope that I am reading too much into this....

I have my fingers crossed.....

From some,of the posts I have read, it has been said that you have to ask them if you are in AP in order to get the answer. They won't just come right out and tell you. But the 2 people I spoke with told me I was.

I called NVC to see if my file has been sent to the embassy yet and they stated that my file was under "additional processing". What in the world does that mean???????

you are in Administrative processing but in NVC level.

Just got off the phone with a NVC rep inquiring about our petition. I asked the direct question if the petition was in AP. The rep said that he couldn't confirm or deny that the case was in AP,..... plain, old government no-speak nonsense! He indicated that normal processing is 1-2 weeks. Our petition arrived at the NVC on 2 April, hmmm...today is 11 April... I will be calling on a daily basis, perhaps more frequently, perhaps taking considering 2 out of 3 answers....

My sense is that this government maneuver is just another stop in the marathon that is our visa journey......

About this time last year, we had the same issue: ours was held up at the NVC, but only for 7 days or so. Hope yours is quick too...Good luck!

NVC has it's own investigative unit(background check) just like USCIS and Consulate stage. Putting you into AP is a discretion they make as a situation ask for it. Patience is your best friend in this journey. Be well.

Our FOIA request showed that this was totally random. The document actually stated random. I was told at interview at ALK it was random. We just drew the short straw, and that was all.

AP at NVC for K1 is not the same as for the IR-1/CR-1 Visa.

A&B we were in AP for 4 weeks this time last year at NVC. I had a particularly friendly visa specialist tell me that Additional Processing and Administrative Processing are essentially the same thing for a K-1 at the NVC stage so I shouldn't worry. She told me it was "Name Checks" and it was perfectly normal. She actually said that Administrative Processing means "we are processing your file".

Hang in there.

After NOA2 (K1), we were held at NVC for 30 days, for no apparent reason other than luck. My (now) husband is from England, so the country really doesn't matter at all. It's a random pull for further checks. You'll move on eventually, and then things will seem to fly by! :)

We are still waiting as patiently as possible. AP is just another word for limbo, lol. Does NVC send me, as the petitioner, an email? or text? or letter? when they finally ship?

They never did send us an notice. They said the would, but nothing ever came. The only way we knew, is that having been there almost 8 weeks, we were in the habit of ringing every other day. ONe fine night, they just told us we were out of AP and been sent on.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Yep, we seem to be in the same "AP boat".... paddling aimlessly without a rudder. When I spoke to the NVC rep today, she said that our case was in AP, and that I will be notified when it is shipped to the consulate. The mode of message transmission was not given. But, heck, each time I have called, they have verified my case #, names and DOBs of both of us, my phone #, and both of our email addresses. As far as we are concerned, they can contact us any old way of their preference.... as long as the message is "it has been sent." lol.... I will be calling again on Monday, our two week mark at NVC.

Good luck to all....

I think we got an e-mail telling us it was sent on, but I can't remember for sure.
