To me I guess it matter. If I am the adjudicator, I would want an organized paperwork not something where it was like pulled out from the trash. My job is to adjudicate, not to sort and organized. LOL

But seriously, who would want to review an untidy paperwork? I wont!

I never said that I knew what I was talking about. The last line in my post eludes to this. I am glad that you have the information you do but I AM SURE you don't know EVERYTHING about this process because YOU DON'T work at the USCIS. Hearsay is ONE form of information and MOST times it is not all FACTUAL. So while I appreciate your knowledge I would rather you look at my post and take it for what it is... AN OPINION!!!

I get the "hearsay" from people that actually adjudicate the petitions. See the pinned topic above.

Exactly. Who decides what is untidy? THEY DO. Can you imagine the conglomeration of paperwork that they get that other people thought were "organized"? In order to speed the process, each file is taken apart when it is received and organized into a standard folder so that each looks the same and the same information is located in the same place for each file. This is done before the NOA1 is issued. Then a case number is assigned (the one on your NOA1)and it is packed in a box. An adjudicator can open the file, look exactly where each document should be, review that document to be sure it is what they and and "check off" the list. This while your background check is run. If all is well and good your file goes from the storage box to the approved pile in abut 20 minutes, maybe less. The rest of the time it sits in a box.

FWIW mine was approved in 58 days with only paper clips and an envelope. It was quite "tidy" by any measure.

Well, have your friends (adjudicators) ever mentioned anything that would definitely slow it down (such as beneficiary's country)? Any insight would be great! Thanks.

Well, I posted a whole interview with a USCIS director which is still pinned at the top of this forum. As mentioned, adjudicators open boxes which are placed in their cubicles and adjudicate petitions. What could prevent a petition from getting to them would be unknown to them. They open boxes and adjudicate. Nothing else. So if I ask them, and I have, what couldsomeone do to SLOW the process, the answer is... Except, of course, not having a complete petition.

Country of fiancee generally has little or no effect on the PETITION. It DOES have an effect on visa issuance (Department of State, not USCIS) and this is also covered in my interview (briefly, the man I spoke with is not from DOS). It can also have an effect on the AOS process. High fraud countries are looked at with more scrutiny. He did mention some areas that are considered "high fraud" and why. It is not always what you think.

As for the petition, SOME countries generate more background check "hits" than others and these require a manual background check done by the FBI. Many of these are because of common names. The FBI has a presence in the VSC so their are FBI agents on site to do this, BUT many times information from other countries can be slow in coming.

NO, I do not have a list of which countries have more problems than others. Read the pinned topics at the top of the forum. they are there because VJ thought they were particularly valuable

When I was working on K-1 I assumed it would be better for me or give me some advantage to be neat. To stand out. I sent in my file in a three ring binder with tabs and a fancy cover. Soon after it was returned to me for some minor infraction on my part. I don't remember what is was. But now they had re-arranged it in THEIR way - like Gary says. Two hole punch at the top with Acco binding.

On another web page I go to an employee in Vermont said people like me annoy them  He suggested that we just follow the instructions - Duh.

At any rate I was lucky and mine was granted in fair time.

I suggest that everyone listen to Gary.

I read the interview and followup questions (actually read the whole thread from first to last comment. Phew). I guess for someone like me and my husband going through the "#######" embassy in Lagos its just hard to know what to front-load and what to keep. I know the USCIS and NVC could careless about 1200 pages of emails and phone records and IM's but I have read on too many interview reviews people were loaded up going to Lagos Embassy and never ever even asked for a piece of evidence just asked questions and when they ask "would you like to see this or not" refused. So I say load up that baby. But to a point. I don't really think my 759 pages of Facebook emails proves anything except we talk a hell of alot.

And whatever you do people listen to Gary, TBoneTX and many others. They may be tight but they are right. They are not the enemy they are here to help us. Who knew such a priceless site as this existed. It should be required on all forms to have to be a member before you file. Sure could save alot of grief in many cases. (sorryofftopic45vn.gif) Just wanted to express my gratitude. I just filed Match 15, 2012 so let the fun begin.whistling.gif

As the situation stands in Vermont right now (I cannot comment on CSC) the "mail room" i you call it that, is more than 20 miles from the adjudicators. The VSC has been in a process of moving since late 2008 and all the adjudicators have been in Essex Jct. Vermont for sometime now. The old VSC in ST Albans is basically a receiving/sorting facility. I understand the plan is to move that at some point also. That is where your files is disassembled, put in their folder and boxed to truck it down to Essex Jct.

Your "work" never comes within 20 miles of an adjudicator.

I have not heard of anyone "annoying" them (adjudicators) What they see is identical for everyone. Now possibly the people that work in the department where they do the disassembly and re-assembly get annoyed. I have heard it is true they hate staples. The adjudicators often tell stories over lunch of the "hunny bunny" petitions. Some get pretty risque and blunt in describing their relationship, including "We began having sex on our second date..." etc.

Mostly they just process a lot of paperwork 10 hours a day, one after another identical files.
