Actually, my husband said he wants to make love on a hilltop, overlooking the beach and ocean (in fact, it really is right there on the beach-20 feet down, and you're in the ocean) under the moon and stars.....on his 28th birthday, which is when I'm the MOST fertile in my ovulation cycle....

nothing more romantic to a man than a woman in the full swing of ovulation

This thread has made me puke a little in my mouth

get in the back seat of a 69 chevy..

That is funny! You know...My wife found my high school yearbook and was asking all about my high school experience here in the US. I told her I would show her. I took a 6-pack of Milwaukee's Best from my neighbor’s fridge, put the beer and the wife in the car, and drove out into the country. I then turned on the radio to some hard rock and we drank and made out in the back seat until about 10:30. When she asked me why we were going home so soon I told her that I had to have her back before her curfew!

Joel

You had her try the beer bong, yes? It's the only way to ingest Milwaukee's Best.

Raising a baby concerns a lot more than finding the money to have a home birth. It is a hard & challenging job as it is, let alone the factors that you are adding in with the money aspect, the fact that your husband is away, etc. I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but please don't gloss over the hurdles that are going to come your way. What if you get pregnant and the money doesn't come thru? What then? Also, when is Roberto getting here? Will he be here for the birth? Would he miss baby's first steps?

Your goal is very optimistic what with bringing an immigrant spouse over and wanting to have a baby initially on your own....both are very challenging adjustments seperately, so I hope you really are sure you know what you want.

I wish you and Roberto the best of luck.

Oh, I'm not even touchin that ovulation on the moutaintop comment...

No...The beer bong wasn't around in my high school. That was University life for me. Maybe we will do the University experiance next weekend. Find a frat party, get roaring drunk, feel each other up, then wake up together on the pool table with dollar bills in our underwear. :D

Joel

Not that something like that ever happened to me.

Would recommend ensuring you have adequate health insurance before the baby arrives. Other than that, hurray for babies and baby-making!

I do have health insurance...and actually, right now, I'm calling doctor's and getting procedure codes and verifying with my insurance what they'll cover...but I also get $10,000 in january, which I can use for the prengancy, delivery, and what comes after.....but so far, I see that it will probably cost around $2000-3000. I don't want to deliver in a hospital though. I want to have a mid wife...and a home birth-so that it's low stress, and very spiritually and emotionally bonding for my husband and I.

Many insurance plans will cover nurse-midwives; definitely something to look into. On the home birth front, just ensure that the midwife can handle any unexpected problems! Modern medicine is often cold and impersonal, but it also comes with the nice baby warming trays and heart monitors and ventilators that reduce infant mortality rates.

Expenses can vary. One of my friends (covered by insurance, thankfully) has two children. First kid: $850. Second kid: $14,000 (obviously some complications.)

Indeed. It's amazing that some women actually "want" to get pregnant. :hehe:

If you needed a cosponsor to bring your husband here, I would advise you to seriously think about the financial ramifications of having and raising a child on your own...even if it is a temporary situation.

Wonderful advice Lisa. My best friend went through something very similar with her husband whom she got here on a K1 from Peru. She was hellbent on getting pregnant only months after this arrival and he hadn't even started working yet. Noone could tell her anything either. I shared this thread with her yesterday and she was horrified. I'm not saying that the OP is bound for a diaster and people unexpectantly have babies all the time is much worse situations BUT why would you PLAN such a thing in such unguaranteed circumstances?
