For the K-1 do you actually submit the affidavit of support and other documents to the NVC before they forward the case to the consulate? I guess I was under the impression that those documents were submitted to the consulate not to the NVC?

You're right, the affidavit of support get submitted only during your interview. You send nothing to the NVC. They just get your packet, assign you a case number and ship it off to your respective embassy. The embassy then will send you packet 3, which you send back only what they ask for in packet 3. Then they set up the interview with you and you bring the rest of the docs then.

The NVC only logs and assigns a case number to the case for the USEM. There is no documents or anything being sent to them.

Check the CDJ consulate for specific information. Each consulate is different in what they require.

As the others have said there is nothing to send to NVC.

Doesn't the NVC let us know once they get our petition and when It is ready to send it to Consulates?

After you get your NOA2 you can call NVC to see if they have received your petition but as Inky said they won't notify you. Once they receive it they should be able to give you the DOS case file number, from then on you should be calling DOS for any updates.

Once your file has gone through the NVC and was sent to CDJ, you can call them to get the numbers you will need to make your appointments: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/318913-call-cd-juarez-to-make-sure-they-received-our-k1-approved-file/

An invitation letter will be sent to both of you. You will need that letter for your medical and interview along with the confirmation page you get after filling out the DS-260.

Follow the directions in this pdf from the consulate website: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/ciudadjuarez/231771/PDFs/K1%20PACKET%20COMPLETE%20_July2011%20UPDATES_.pdf

Well they say you should, I did, but I have read of others that never did. I called and got the info two weeks before the letter arrived from NVC.

OH MY GOD. Again, my lawyer has told me that I need to submit all kinds of documents to the NVC and that they won't forward it to my consulate until they have received them.

So I have my invoice number/beneficiary number/cdj number...... should I schedule my interview now? NVC received it 3/5.... when should I expect Juarez to have his packet??

Juarez won't send you anything but the invitation letter with the address to their consulate site that has the instruction pdf I posted the link to above: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/fianceforms.html

NVC or CDJ should be able to tell you if they have received your file yet. NVC will give you all the numbers you need, and you can start to fill out the forms and make the appointments as soon as you have the numbers you need. You will need the invitation letter CDJ will send out to you, plus the confirmation page after you make the appointments when you go to CDJ for the ASC and interview appointments, and the medical. So, you can still get the documents together and make your appointments even before you receive the invitation letter from them. It should take CDJ a few weeks to get that to you.

By the way, the only ones that send papers directly to the NVC before being sent to the consulate are those applying for a spousal visa.

I just talked to her about it today when I informed her that the NVC had already sent it on to CDJ and she said that it was a mistake because we hadn't submitted anything. Again I told her that we didn't need to and she said she would look into it. UGH.

Does anyone know how to navigate the website to schedule my interview? I put in his passport number and DOB and the case number and it let me in to the account, but no where shows me a link to schedule an apt. I found a link that led me to a "scheduler" but it required a username and password which I definitely dont have yet.... and there is no link to create a new username/pass

I believe you need to fill out the DS-260 and pay the fee first before making the appointments. The site is down at the moment, but should be back up later this evening or tomorrow morning: http://mexico.usvisa-info.com

From the pdf instructions: "prior to attending your consular interview appointment you should also complete DS-260 form on line at www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov and after that, you must access http://mexico.usvisa-info.com to schedule an appointment at the Applicant Service Center (ASC) of your choice, to get your fingerprints and photographs collected.

Each applicant is required to appear in person at the Applicant Service Center (ASC) prior to the consular appointment date. Once you have reached http://mexico.usvisa-info.com, follow the instructions to log in and schedule an appointment. It is important that you access the website as soon as possible to schedule the ASC appointment. If you do not go to the ASC prior to your interview at the consular section, your case may experience significant processing delays. Please do this for all applicants that will be applying for a visa (including children).

All K1, K2, K3 and K4 visa applicants should pay a new USD$350.00 visa fee at any BANCO NACIONAL DE MEXICO (BANAMEX) or SCOTIA BANK in Ciudad Juarez, Chih., Mexico or through online payment at http://mexico.usvisa-info.com before they attend their interview at this Consulate and validate the payment in the same website."
