Did anyone find it scary to do this process, knowing the time you will take in this, and all the money you will spend, and in the end still not getting the 100% assurance that you will even be approved?? I mean, are people denied even if they do all the steps and have a clean record? or is it a matter of keep trying and wait your turn?

Im looking at all the forms and documents and trying to make an outline of the steps and fees required so I can have a visual at the process so I can be prepared the best I can. I dont want to miss anything, I think i have a basic understanding of what to do. we all want success  any advices?

thanks

I don't find the process scary. I want to be with the person I love and like everyone else who's gone through this journey, we'll do what it takes to make that happen. A stack of paperwork and a few fees are a small price to pay.

To make sure you have a full understanding, I highly recommend reviewing the awesome K-1 Visa Guide and K-1 Flowchart on this site. It will help you prepare. Good luck!

I see what you mean, but I'd say it's more anxiety inducing than actually scary. I'm SO excited to have started the process and gotten our NOA1 and can't wait to be through the process with visa in hand. I also know that we have a lot of waiting and a couple of places where we could hit a snag (my fiance is still waiting for confirmation from his ex that he can move their kids to the USA). I'm nervous about getting an RFE and making the process take longer, but seeing that some people got through in under a month makes me nervous too. I know getting a really fast NOA2 won't give us the time to present his ex with all the info she and her lawyer have requested. But like leftcoastlady said, all of this is worth it to be with the person you love :)

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

These forums are a great help.

Any anxieties and fears you have, I am sure many others have had before you and will have after you.

The only advice I can give you at the moment is "patience" do not expect anything to come to you ASAP and don be discouraged if others get approved before you or you get an RFE. Hope for the best but expect the worst and then you will be prepared for anything.

Read all the guides here. Get things done early: ie/ canyou get your police check done early? Your vaccinations for AOS?

And lasrtky, talk to people here. They are a wealth of knowledge and support!

Assuming you have not yet met anyone.

This whole process is long, expensive, filled with doubts and pitfalls. It is not for everyone. In some respects it can be easy, in others a ######. It all depends on...just about anything. If you must have a wife from another country, there are hundreds of countries to choose from, millions of women to choose from and each with their own beauty, culture, baggage ?, concerns and the list can go on. If you are not ready to undertake this journey, don't. If you are then I wish you good fortune. But PLEASE do your homework first.

yes i never said it would not be worth it, ;) i guess i am only unsure of the number of denials, not that i couldnt handle the process, i can, but i guess i am unsure if people get denied because of some quota?

i am looking at the charts, im sure they will help greatly

and some times i wonder if the success rate would change between fiance visa VS spousal visa? I would prefer the fiance visa,,, but I also prefer to have my love in the most secure manner whatever it takes to ensure approval :D

I know exactly what you mean. I was thinking the same thing five months ago when i started the k1 visa application. I sat there reading about the requirements and actual cases i have read through. I felt so overwhelmed with the paper work and getting it right so i wouldnt have any problems. Its been a stressing ordeal and thoughts that come to mind like, "what if i dont get approved?" I know its going through your head right now, and you probably loose sleep worrying about it. But im going to say dont worry, go through the process. If you really love the person on the other side you wouldnt think twice, and if you do it, then thats real love...that will guide you.

I just got my NOA2 i have some way to go....good luck!

The approval rate is incredibly high, so I doubt there's any quota in place. More likely is people are denied because they filed for the wrong type of visa, don't meet the guidelines, etc. As I mentioned upthread, read the guides to make sure you're prepared to move forward with this process.

no. compared to other things in life (such as a college degree), the process requires less time, financial cost and effort on your part, really. even if you don't get approved, you still have other routes (appeal, re-apply, cr1 etc.) to get to your final objective.

oh some where i read it was 60% approval.. hmm

thanks everyone for your 2bits. congrats and good luck to you all in your processes so far!

that depends on the country where the beneficiary resides (ie. high fraud or not)

Everyone who has answered you so far about how reasonably easy it is, or how high the approval rate is, is either from or has a fiancee in a first world country. If your fiancee is from a third world country then the approval rate goes down dramatically.

So, what country are we talking about here?

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

The worldwide approval rate was 99.2% last year (35,000 total K-1s). Unless all those rejections are coming out of one or two third world consulates, it's hard to believe that approval drops substantially compared to the average.

To the OP - life is full of risks, getting a fiance visa isn't one of the ones you should worry about.
