A tax transcript should break down who's income is who's on the return because they come from two different sources. If nothing else have his wife file an I-864a.

I dont have returns I only have my dad's W2's.

I ordered 2008, 2009, 2010 tax return transcript in 2011. Should i bother ordering again because it says that "Requested on: Sep 2011 etc..."

Maybe its better to have more recent dates? even though it doesn't really change anything else.?

maybe i'm being a little bit too perfectionist...

Hey all,

I asked this question in an earlier post, but I think I buried it, so I am re-posting.

In the I-864, I'm stumbling on the 'current individual annual income.' I receive a base pay, but then I also receive free housing. I do report a monetary value for the housing on my tax returns, which makes my gross annual income much different from my annual pay. On the I-864 section for 'current individual annual income,' should I report my income as the estimated value for housing, plus annual pay, or should I report only the annual pay?

This is income earned abroad, so in the long run, it doesn't seem to count anyway, as they won't accept me as a sponsor unless I am earning income in the USA.

Many thanks for any help!!

No worries. I'm in the same boat so you still have a couple of days more of waiting before you get an answer on your DS-3032. You said you emailed yours on Saturday. My wife emailed ours last week on "Tuesday" and still no answer as of the time of this post. So we will see how much they take and I'll post it so you get an idea.

Ok, so what about the DS-230? They are minors, so I will have to sign part I for them?

I believe so. But I'm not familiar with minors at NVC. I'd suggest looking around on NVC's site and/or calling up an operator and asking.

But the problem is my parents file joint taxes and on the transcript it says a SUM of both their incomes and not just my dad and I am only using my dad. So the only thing I have is my dad's W2's.

Ohhhh, didn't know (or forgot, my bad!) your joint sponsor was your dad, and filed jointly. Then yes, if that's the case, take the amount from his W2. So sorry!

Since the information would be the same, no need to re-order them! headbonk.gif

so AOS of $88.00 was paid by husband last friday, and i emailed DS-3032 saturday, now what? how long do we wait?

Re-read the FAQ!

While you're waiting, get the AOS package ready to go! If it's all ready (which it should be :P ), then have OTHER people go over it. A fresh set of eyes is ESSENTIAL to catching stuff you or your spouse might not catch.

Is housing considered income though? Are you being paid to stay there? If not, I'd think you should just list your income from work.

Thanks Saylin,

So you don't think it would be a problem if there were a large discrepancy between my annual income and the gross income on the tax returns?

Well, you were referring to the 'current individual income' in which there is NO return, so yes, you'll be fine.

Yes, sorry, I meant a large (negative) difference between my reported 'current individual income' and the previous years tax returns. ie - current annual income might be 43,000, but the previous tax years gross amount was 60,000 due to provided housing.

But I think you are right, housing would probably not be considered income. I'll report the 'current individual income' as the amount without the housing.

Thanks again!!

Oh, I misunderstood laughing.gif

Despite that though, as long as you're over the poverty line, NVC shouldn't care about the difference. It might come up at the interview, but just explain it to the officer and all should go well good.gif
