I just wanted to apologize. I did kind of go off a little. She did insult me first, though. I also apologize for my bad grammar because I did not proof read, before I posted. Arrest me. And I am sorry that I did not check WHO was writing to me and thought you might be a man, I was just reacting to your insult. Again sorry to everyone, I'm not here to piss anyone off.

Another insult, I'll be the bigger person and let it go. You win your a better and more intellegent person than I am. I'll buy you a trophy.

I guess it depends how you read it  ..... your initial insult was targeted at a larger audience I guess

 I say let's make the America's like the European Union! :star:

And I say #### that idea, and #### the EU while we're at it. :P

Yeah, given that the US is not willing to integrate itself into international organizations, I agree with the first part of your answer. Only when the rest of the Americas bands together will the US see the benefit.

As to the second part, why is it that some Americans are so hostile to the EU? What has the EU done to the U.S.? Could it be just a case of jealousy od the existence of a functioning transnational political unit? Or is it that the US can't boss around member states in the way it wants to? :P

I don't see the EU as a functional political unit. To me, it's an amorphous dysfunctional entity

falling apart at the seams. The EU Institutions, specifically the European Commission and

the Council of Ministers, are undemocratic because they do not allow people to make or change

a single EU law. It is also undemocratic because there is no such thing as a "European people"

that could give it a democratic basis.

Fischköpfin,

I take it you agree that the EU legislative process (controlled by the *unelected*

Commission and the Council of Ministers) is inherently undemocratic?

Sorry, it took a while to get back, but yesterday got extremely busy at work, so I couldn't check VJ.

Anyway, I disagree. For one thing the commission is appointed by an elected parliament, the European parliament in Strassbourg, which also proposes and votes on the legislation. Commissioners are nominated by national government, which are elected. For another, the council of ministers is made up by government ministers from each of the member nations. The ministers are members of an democratically elected government and they are confirmed by the respective national parliaments. Thus, the executive of the EU while not directly elected by the people is a result of democratic processes (actually this process is more democratic than the selection of cabinet secretaries in the U.S. and about as democratic as the appointment of congressional members to committees).

As to your claim that there is no such thing as "European people," that is based entirely on your understanding of a nation in the traditional sense. There are many nations around the world that contains more than one nationality/ethnicity (like the U.S.), but noone doubts their democratic potential. Many European identify as EU-nationals in addition to being from one nation. And, sorry to repeat, these European elect democratic representatives to the European parliament which has become increasingly more powerful as the member nations grow together.

Finally, the EU and its parliament have formed a constitutional convention to make the EU more directly democratic. As you know, the constitution was rejected in two member nations, which means it needs to be revised, as only a consensus of all nations can implement the constitution.

American Men have matured , to have more opened minds and crave more flavor.

To be honest I believe that foriegn women posses better moral character than most superficial

materialistic American Women.

For me I was drawn to the exotic beauty, of my japanese wife, along with her intelligence and confidence with the right touch of humility.

She is not a subserviant Asian female she is indepemndent & very smart, knows what she wants

However she is caring and nurtures her family, she s the glue that holds our family together.

Aside from that she has the cutest voice especially when speaking in Japanese in the bedroom.

She is the best cook! Puts her heart into every detail of every aspect of our daily lives.

I am not saying American Women aren't like this but it is rare. When I met Ako ( My wife 13 years ago)

I knew right then I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life.

That is very sweet of you to say that about your wife (L)

But my next question I will ask in all seriousness: did you really know you wanted to be with her for the rest of your life? did you not have in the back of your head that you may meet someone "better"..."younger"... ??? I read something to this effect in another thread and it disturbed me. seriously....

You read that thread in the Russian forum...that is the place where I REALLY feel nauseous.

What some people here DONT GET is that not everyone goes LOOKING for a foreign spouse...most of us just happened to meet them...and fell in love.

Ya know?

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

Let me also add: acclimating to the UK was really difficult...and it's the easiest county to move to in regards to being the most similar, no language barrier, etc. I MARVEL at these men and women who move here from other countries which aren't so similar...there is so much to get used to! Naturally, there will be a huge adjustment period...and I say as long as the lines of communication stay open, it should be an 'anything goes' type situation (not in THAT way) to help the spouse feel more comfortable.

So you both said you wanted babies, but then she wants to try her hand at a job for a little bit....is that so damn wrong? Let her find her own way!

You are certainly right there...

I dont think it has anything to do with being 'americanized'. When I moved here from Venezuela, I felt the same way, specially in Pittsburgh, the hispanic population is SO small, you dont see them at the malls, or any where you go. I depended a lot on Rob, I didnt even want to go to the Super Market on my own, and I did not have the language barrier either. But he made me start going out on my own, try to solve the every day issues on my own. It was kinda neat getting to be a grown up again.

Women that change once they come to the US, were certainly not in love with the men that brought them. It's not like your choices (family, children, loving husband) can change with a green card. If you love a man, and you want to have children, no job will stop you from fullfilling your desires, and no friend is going to 'change your mind'.

It has nothing to do with territory, and all to do with the intentions people have when they immigrate.

I read something to this effect in another thread and it disturbed me. seriously....

You know when you meet the right person, And yes when I first met her and spent an entire summer seeing her I knew I wanted he rin my life maybe not in the capacity of marriage then, but I knew i did not want to lose touch with her. There is always a possibility of meeting someone else but not better,

Younger? She is a year younger than me but looks like she is in her early 20's.

It was not just her looks that drew me to her it was her mannerisms, she is confident not stuck up, She truly brings out the best in me, that is what makes an empowering relationship I am not trying to go Dr. Phil on you all just stating my opinion on what attracted me to a non American Woman.

I have dated women from Autralia, Asia, Canada & USA American women will speak their minds which I respect However majority of them at least on the west Coast are superficial, Materialistic & will look to take everything they can if given the opportunity, Asian women and women from other countries/cultures maintain better values and are of better moral character. It is really impossible to generalize any 1 countries people. I am basing my Opinion on my experiance as a lay person ( I have laid a lot of persons :P ) seriously though based on my experiences.

In the back of mind for the past 10 years before my wife And I reconnected I had always wioshed to go back and develope our then friendship into something greater, and now here we are married with a beautiful daugter and abay boy on the way. So Yes I knew when i first met her!
