Married people are supposed to live alone in private and not be thrown into a house with two other permanent parents but you know

your situation better than we do.

Let me ask you some tough questions.

Are you really helping them out or are you being cheap and spending all your money that you are making and just living better than you normally would once you do have

to move out. If I was the CO doing the interview, I would scrutinize your relationship and make sure it was bonified.

Many people DO attempt to bring a spouse over while their real motive is for them to take care of the aging family members.

I have no facts.

I don't know how they can estimate whether you can support her or not in a subsidized living arrangment because your situation will not last. You need to figure your ability to support her based on current rental prices and not the deal that your parents are giving you. That is just my thoughts.

That sweet deal you have is going to end one day and it could end based on tensions in the house. Good luck

Supporting each other is fine, no need for you to move out now. If your parents claim you as a dependent(e.g. taxes) then you're a part of the household on their affidavit of support, them being co-sponsors. But you better look into the whole co-sponsor issue however, that's country specific (K1 Manila co-sponsors are some of the keywords if you do a search on Visa Journey).

Just make sure it won't effect your relationship in a negative way when your fiancee gets there all living under the same roof.

My husband and i live at home with his parents and he has been living here all through the K-1 process also. We live here because we can't afford to move out yet, especially with me not working. We will continue living here for most of the year too so that we can save money before moving interstate. I really don't think that it affected our application in any way. If he had earned enough to sponsor me then he would have sponsored me on his own and that would have been fine. As it is though, he doesn't earn enough so we used his Mum for the co sponsor for the K-1 and again for AOS.

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013

What country is your fiancee from?

Living at home isn't an issue for any country that I'm aware of. I was living at home because it was pointless signing a lease on a place when I knew I wouldn't be there the whole lease period. I had zero questions about that. They didn't even know I lived with parents I think.

The reason I ask what country is because if it's the Philippines then you might NOT be able to have a co-sponsor. They tend not to like co-sponsors for K1 visas unless you're a student. So you should be aware of that.

It's not an issue. If you don't make enough money, parents can co-sponsor.

I don't know your particular situation, but I'm 20 and I'm living with my parents as well. Once my fiance and I are married, it might take awhile for us to be financially stable enough to move out.

It's embarrassing to be sure, but everyone's situation is different. Sometimes you need to rely on family and sometimes they'll need to rely on you. As long as you're doing everything you can to be financially independent, there's no shame in that.

Don't listen to NoneYa, what they said was really judgmental and rude. People on this forum are very helpful 90% of the time, but on occasion you'll get someone that gives you an unsolicited lecture on your financial situation.

Does not affect the visa and they do not count as household members for you. They are nor dependents. They will not need to file as co-sponsors unless you need a co-sponsor and want them to do that. Not just because you live there, no.

It has no affect.

You MAY want to consider some sort of lease agreement with them just so you have something to show you and yor (then) wife live in the same house for the AOS... for the visa, not an issue.

In this case the parents would not claim the petitioner as a dependent even if he was on their income tax because the petitioner will file his own I-134 and claim himself. US citizens are never counted twice.

Great, sorts out the legal aspect then.
