Samarnaz, my husbands first name is also Abdul and we are stuck in AP since August 8, 2011. One person with this first name was on AP for 1.5 years, another one for 3 years and I know someone else with Abdul as a middle name who interviewed on October 2010 and still on AP. Found only one abdul so far who was done in 4 months. I hope we don't have to wait that long. We are waiting more than 5 months on AP now.

Hello RealAi, how are you? Thanks for scaring me to death :D

I don't think this only is the case that AP goes by name. It also affects I understand that. But there is no standard for any specific name. because Mohammad is more common than Abdul and some people get out in two weeks with name Mohammad. There are lots of other things involved in AP. Which nobody knows or maybe some people do know but they don't want to share with everyone. My case is simple in scence that I never got any RFE at any stage. They asked my husband for more ongoing relationship proofs that he gave them and they were satisfied as our marriage is arranged . But the question she was emphasizing on the most was that why my husband divorced his x-wife after 15 years.(which I think is the most trigger for our AP). At the same time(according to my husband) she was looking closely at his divorce dertificate. Maybe she thought it was a fake document and she made another copy of it (they already have a set of copies of all documents)and gave him all his originals back and kept his passport and told him they need more work on his case that may take 4 weeks, 8 weeks or upto 4 months. It has been more than 4 months now we never received anything from them. Also one time when I called DOS a nice lady picked up and told me that all my husbands documents are good and they are doing normal procssing. I dont know how long this normal processing will take.

Thank you for the lovely comments, my first name's Saad. I'm not proud of this, but I googled meself several times (also had a looksy through FBI wanted list) and didn't come across anything stupefying. I'm thinking the whole AP bit is mandatory contrary to popular belief for Pakistani males. I've also spent a lot of time in Britain, so they probably had to conduct the search on several fronts... been to Middle East a few times, and my lovely's white (she's not muslim though, which the CO asked me grilled me about for awhile I have no idea why)... of course I don't have staunch proof these are the reasons I was put in AP, but I've seen a lot of places where many people say these are some of the leading reasons why you can be put in AP.

Either way I'm hoping 'tis gonna go through real soon like I think (and like how people have told me) it would. I'm very certain all your visas would come through real soon as well, the whole pipeline bit and it being clogged had held back more happiness than 'tis due share. Hang in there, it's on it's way!

Thank you very much Saad and AP is somthing that we never will figure out. But being a Pakistani male or any kind of relation to Pakistan is a big red flag at this time.

My name is Abdul Majid and I'm in Administrative Processing since July 25, 2011. I think it has to do with my name. Indeed Allah is with those who are patient. Hang in there brothers and sisters.

You are are absolutly right brother. I know and they also say alot about common names too. Being a muslim is also a red flag, Having different beleives is again a cause of AP. In our case we both are muslim and from pakistan. I am pakistani US citizen living here and working here and paying taxes in US for 17 years. They must have checked all my backgrounds too.

But at the end all we can do is pray for ourselves and everyone else who is victom of this horrible AP. May Allah bring this journy to end safely. And we meet with our loveones soon. Ameen.

same here I have a clean backgound and I am in a Federal Service since 2007. Got married to my 2nd cousion in Pakistan. Had interview on 14July2011 and only thing CO asked was proof of ongoing relationship. Now ive never had a strong relationship with my cousion before we got married(arranged marriage). Since then her case has been in AP.

All we ever heard from Embassy was

Dear Sir/Madam,

We have received your documents and forwarded this case to a Consular officer for review. We’ll contact you in few days to inform about the further process.

I hope this information will be helpful to you.

Actually Ive sent them Documents 3x times since the interview. One huge packet on 15July2011 (day after the interview), Another packet in Oct and then latest proof of ongoing relationship on 02DEC2011.

According to DOS my wifes case is put on AP on 02DEC2011. So I got the feeling that ever time I send new set of documnts they put the case on AP over again.

Thus I wont be sending anymore unless they request it. I might have made the process longer since I kept on sending the documents without their request.

its odd that whenever embassy reply to our Email. its always the same reply since AUG 2011. Those new days they talked about has been turned into few months

One more thing I wanted to Add Ebbass, Last week found out that my wife is pregnant with my child, one month down the road *really excited to be a daddy lol. Now should we tell the Embassy that she is pregmamt ?

Congratulations!!! Im not sure of the right answer to that ... if you get the visa within a month it really won't be an issue as she will still be traveling as one....but im not sure what the answer is to that ...

You should notify the embassy, it could only make your case stronger.

AP could be expedited under hunamitarian grounds. Letting a father be there at the time of the birth of the child should fall under that.
