I have a question for the masses here, would mean a lot if someone can help me! (I'm the bloke who had his K1 interview in Islamabad just a week 'fore your hubby, EAbbas)

Got a call from the US Embassy in Islamabad today, and was told they are sending me my passport back since 'tis expiring on February 7th. But they told me to send them my new passport ASAP (with an emphasis on the ASAP mind you) and also send them my new medical after having it done, as the old one expired.

I hate to speculate but what I've read everywhere about AP tells me if they get in contact with you about your passport to either send it to them with your new medical exam or send it without the medical ninety percent of the time it means a case that's been processed and approved. Also it makes me wonder since they require six months validity on your passport, why did they not get in contact with me in August (when the passport ran out of such validity officially) and are contacting me now rather when it has less than a couple weeks. Is it chance, or should I afford a little happiness on mine and the lovely's part? So what should I expect here... is the processing complete on my case, the reason why they are asking me to send these two things to them as soon as I receive me old passport?

Suffice to say I've been a bit shaky ever since the morn, would love any and all input I can get... thanks!

I think its a very good sign that you are complete and will get your visa soon. altho because your having to get another passport and resend it may take a little more time since they couldn't just stamp the passport you have and send it. check to see how long it took once the passport was sent in. I think i've read about another 2-4 weeks. But I THINK A CONGRATULATIONS IS IN ORDER HERE!!!!! maybe a little too soon but I still think ALLAH has blessed you!!!!! Let us know once you find out... omg i pray that means we are close too... im heartbroken... just want to have my family complete! May ALLAH bless you and your wife!

You're very kind, in all this time I've spent the only thing that has kept me going are words... such as yours. I believe in good things happening to good people, and you're so close! I know you're gonna get it sometime real soon. I've been lurking on the site, just reading what people have been writing and sharing, and it has been a huge help.

The lovely's me fiancee`. :) We're planning on getting married within a month of me being there.

Once again thank you so much for your warm words; I know I'm not out of the woods yet, and all of this can still take a month or so but I can wait. I've been brave since the end of September 2010 when we first applied for this and I know you can wait too. Your family will be complete very soon, just one of these days, hun... as they say.

I think they are finished with AP and they are ready to issue the visa. Everyone I know that has been asked for a new medical got their visa.

Thank you, thank you, thank you the both of you! Your input is very helpful not just practically, but even emotionally. I'm sure they'd attach a letter to the old passport explaining to me what they really require of me and that should tell me more. I'll keep everybody updated!

Cheers!

I had me medical done last April; asked the lady the same question and she told me 'tis just to be on the safe side so it won't delay the matter more. At this point I'm willing to submit a whole lot of paperwork once more if it means I'm getting this all approved within the next few weeks!

I'm certain they'll attach a letter with the old passport with a list of everything they want me to send to them, once I get that I'll update what I had to get again. Sadly I'm not residing in one of the bigger cities in Pakistan (live in Quetta) which is why I'll have to travel all the way to Karachi even for the Medical, but here's to hoping it'll all get sorted soon Inshallah. Keep me in your prayers.

Hi Gil1234, This is a very good news. I am very happy for you. Good to know at least they are doing something. I pray that you and we all get our visas soon. Do you mind telling your name. because people say that some names take more time than the others. My husbands first name is Abdul. Which is very common. Sometimes I think that our delay is because of that. But nobody knows what the reason is behind the dalay.

Thank you for the lovely comments, my first name's Saad. I'm not proud of this, but I googled meself several times (also had a looksy through FBI wanted list) and didn't come across anything stupefying. I'm thinking the whole AP bit is mandatory contrary to popular belief for Pakistani males. I've also spent a lot of time in Britain, so they probably had to conduct the search on several fronts... been to Middle East a few times, and my lovely's white (she's not muslim though, which the CO asked me grilled me about for awhile I have no idea why)... of course I don't have staunch proof these are the reasons I was put in AP, but I've seen a lot of places where many people say these are some of the leading reasons why you can be put in AP.

Either way I'm hoping 'tis gonna go through real soon like I think (and like how people have told me) it would. I'm very certain all your visas would come through real soon as well, the whole pipeline bit and it being clogged had held back more happiness than 'tis due share. Hang in there, it's on it's way!

Thanks dear.. your mesg brought tears to me :( im on an emotional roller coaster as I want so much to support everyone dealing with this since all of you need someone who understands and will be here for all of you but at the same time i hurt and ache to be with my husband to the point that in moments of quiet i just break down wanting him to be there standing in front of me :( telling me its ok...

Inshallah this will pass and i do think its' been a long time seeing any visas approved for those of us waiting a long time so maybe now that the holidays have passed the real work has begun.. beginning with Gil1234 and moving forward. INSHALLAH INSHALLAH INSHALLAH AMEEN!

DO NOT GIVE UP!!!! IT WILL HAPPEN!

Samarnaz, my husbands first name is also Abdul and we are stuck in AP since August 8, 2011. One person with this first name was on AP for 1.5 years, another one for 3 years and I know someone else with Abdul as a middle name who interviewed on October 2010 and still on AP. Found only one abdul so far who was done in 4 months. I hope we don't have to wait that long. We are waiting more than 5 months on AP now.

No idea. The original documents from the NVC said they would expire in 2010 but I believe an Embassy member told me that expiration is extended by the Embassy due to Admin Processing.
