Winning23 Congratulations!

Maabih all I did in my email was tell them about my case and that it had been in AP for 14 months. At the end of the email I said " if there is no decision on my case within 30 days I will have no choice but to file a Writ of Mandamus against you in Federal District Court."

I have all the paperwork ready to file the Writ of Mandamus. The Court likes you to give the embassy 30 days notice to finish your case before you take the papers to the court house so that they can be given to a judge. I also wrote to Mr. David T. Donahue Deputy Assistant Secretary for Visa Services letting him know that I will be filing a lawsuit in 30 days.

Normally once you file the lawsuit they finish your case. I am suing 2 government agencies. The Department of State and the FBI. I am suing the FBI for delayed background checks even though that might not be the reason we've been in AP so long. It is very expensive for the government to fight me in Court so my hope is that they will make a decision on my case before our court date. We have a clean case. Neither my husband nor I have a criminal record and my husband has never been deported from any Country.

The CO questioned if our marriage was legal and that might have been the hold-up. We got married at home. I am Christian and my husband is Muslim. The CO went to the Union hall in Sialkot to verify that our marriage was legal and he was told that it was. The clerk that talked to the CO at the Union hall is a friend of my father-in-law. He called my father-in-law and told him everything.

Now that the embassy knows my marriage is legal they have no reason not to give us a decision very soon. If they do not do it in 30 days from now I will go ahead and take them to Court.

Guys,

My fiancee got approved today. Very thankful to almighty for this wonderful day.. She interviewed on December 19, but put on AP. Exactly 3 wks later, she got approved.

To all on AP, hang in there, it just takes some time. Have faith and be strong.

I was called State Department phone number here in Washington DC each day. They can provide latest status to your K1 / or other types of cases in PK or any other country.

Best of luck to all,

OMG CONGRATS THATS GREAT!

when u call DOS you will need only the case # and your husbands name. Sometimes they ask for the date of birth too.

instead calling DOS is there any link in islamabad U.S embassy website which tells status of AP cases ? my friend is in dubai he told me abu dhabi U.S embassy have website to put case number and they tells the case status.

It is very difficult to talk Islamabad U.S embassy for case information, b/c always when operator try to transfer call to visa counselor section it got hang up.

No they don't have a website link for that.. and i too agree it would be a lot easier but if the calling them doesn't work too well....cos i know ive either been hung up on or can't wait the 40 min on hold...

then you can email them. They do reply but just don't email daily or weekly... i do it monthly and get consistent replies within a day altho they are the canned answers but still they reply....

It is very difficult to call the embassy in Islamabad there is always something wrong with their phones. I was able to get through only 1 time and all they would tell me is the case is still in AP.

It is better to email the embassy or call the Department of State.

Just to clarify, you can the DOS Monday - Friday 8am - midnight.

202-663-1225

Option 1

Option 3

Option 4

Then, enter 0

They will ask Beneficiary Name, DOB. They may also ask what is the last status you received on the case.

The DOS has access to embassy decisions immediately can provide that to you. It's a waste of time calling or emailing the islamabad embassy directly. Also, there is also no link to track AP cases for Islamabad. Maybe for other countries but definitely not for Pakistan.

If you happen to get on AP, the best thing to do to provide exactly what the embassy wants in a timely matter and cross your fingers and wait patiently. Unfortunately the fastest path I know.

DOS is only open: (USA Time)

8:30am thru 5pm Monday thru Friday to obtain information about your AP (speaking with a visa specialist)

And unfortunately they do not have access to the information immediately but only when the embassy updates DOS. I've seen ppl call DOS that morning getting pending and then an hour later get a call from AMEX saying their passport with visa has arrived to come pick it up.

I wish they did have immediate updates...

The CO that gave my husband his 2nd interview came to my husbands city today. He walked around the area with a picture of my husband asking questions to the neighbors and shop keepers.

after 2 interviews and a home visit I hope the embassy is now ready to make a decision on our case.

This is great. I hope they give your husband visa in few days now. I am very happy for you.

I have a question. Did the CO ever come to your husbands house too and spoke to him and his family too or just in the neighbourhood and around?

Samranaz-The CO that came out never came to the house to talk to my husband or his family.

Maabish- There is no email address for Mr. David T. Donahue I had to write him a letter. 2 days after I emailed the embassy saying I would file the Writ of Mandamus they sent a CO to Sialkot, my husband's city. I believe that email got results.
