My NOA2 is November 29th and NVC still don't have it.

I thought when they get it they assign the embassy case number right away is that not the case???

I thought that too, so I was immediately excited when they told me they had finally received my case, then immediately sad when they told me it would take 10-20 business days to just get it in a computer. I could drive there and put it in the computer faster than that!

I guess I have to wait for it to be in the computer before I can get someone to assign it a case number? Or does it get assigned a case number when it is put in. WHO KNOWS!

The NVC script readers tell you it's going to be 10-20 days. However, that's just to cover their butt. It likely will take less time, so keep on calling every day. That's what I did, and I got my case number much sooner than they told me I would.

I don't know what an NVC case number does for a Bangladeshi K-1er, but for a Filipino K-1er it means they can use their NVC case number to complete their medical and to make an Embassy interview appointment. It really gets the ball rolling!

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

We received the NOA2 for our K1 on 9/30/11, and it finally got entered into the NVC system on 10/17/11 and didn't leave NVC until 10/28/11. It took an entire month from the approval date to finally transfer our petition to the Mumbai consulate. We never received a letter but our attorney did and it was dated 10/31/11 and stated "...This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be fowarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place." This letter was dated AFTER they took a month to process it and send it out to Mumbai! I don't think I'll ever understand how the government works

Hey!

Does anyone know if the NVC will contact is when they recieve our petition?

We received our NOA2 on the 5th of DEC. Just waiting to hear more now!

Our petition took about 3 weeks for it to be received at NVC (from VSC)... I called several times a week to check and see if it arrived. I was told it takes around 15 business days, which in our case was about right. I was finally able to get the case number yesterday and today our petition is on it's way to the consulate. We never received any correspondence from NVC. Just keep calling them. Congrats on your NOA2! And good luck!!! :)
