  • Our Story
K1 filed in June 2011 - Interview in Jan 2012 - Denied. USCIS rendered the final decision in March 2013 - Administratively closed and free to file again without prejudice. We married in India on January 30, 2014. A new chapter begins...And yes.... finally the new chapter IS beginning! We were approved on May 18, 2015 on our CR1. Thank you God! Visa is in hand and we were able to book my husband on my same return flight on May 28, 2015! And the story continues ❤️ ... ROC filed in March 2017 & Approved March 2018. GC received in April 2018, but we were one of the 9,000 who had the wrong “Resident Since” date printed so we had to get a new card issued which we received in June 2018. Filed the N-400 for Citizenship in April 2018. Interview on August 14, 2018 resulted in an Approval. Oath Ceremony being held on September 12, 2018. Woo Hoo! It's the end of our long 7 year immigration journey! Thanks to VisaJourney and all of the helpful and supportive people! Best wishes on your journeys!

  1. You need to ensure your beneficiary carries all 2018 W2s or 1099 tax forms with them to the interview. Failure to do could result in a 221G and be ineligible to receive a visa.
  2. You can file the I-130 without your name change. Some people never change their names after marriage. It’s more important that you show proof of joint accounts, bank and tax statements, etc.
  3. It’s definitely a good idea to see each other as much as possible. It helps to support your case of being a true couple. It’s my opinion that it’s better to make multiple trips and make your length of stay shorter, as opposed to making 1 or 2 trips with a longer length of stay.
