I heard the first impression is always important in a AOS interview, so I was wondering what do you and your spouse wear or plan to wear at your Green Card Interview?

Ummm it's not about what people wear it's about proving you have a bonafide marriage/relationship. Nobody will look at your clothes.

"Dress for success"

"First impressions are the only ones that count"

etc...

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

I agree, you have to wear something nice without exaggerate. Nice dress pants, dress shirt I think is fine.

Think about what you would wear to a job interview. That should work. :) We dressed nicely but sort of casually. My husband wore khakis and a button up shirt or polo, and I wore cords and a sweater. Nothing fancy but not sloppy either. You do want to look like this is something that matters to you. :)

I heard the first impression is always important in a AOS interview, so I was wondering what do you and your spouse wear or plan to wear at your Green Card Interview?

I got this from a book, that focused on AOS interviews and preparation:

DRESS WELL FOR THE INTERVIEW

"At any given interview, be it job or immigration, non verbal mode of communication says alot about who you are. The examiner will surely factor your physical appearance into his perception of you. As you know, firsts impression lasts a long time. Please put on clothing that will make you look responsible. For example, if you appear before an examiner with your pant drawn down like most teenagers, it will surely affect the perception of the examiner. The examiner might doubt your marriage, because your appearance does not support the responsible role of a husband. Therefore, if you appear like a hooligan or a thug, you may not get the favorable result you desire and deserve. You would have helped the examiner to conclude wrongly. Be moderate, neat and presentable".

Hello fellow trini!

I read somewhere to dress like you're going to church or to a business interview.

I wore a black blazer, cigarette pants, a funky scarf and heels. My husband wore just jeans, a nice long-sleeved, button down shirt and dress shoes.

I wore a dark pinstripe suit, striped tie, blue shirt, shined my shoes by hand, cut my fingernails, got a haircut, etc.

She was dressed equally nice.

When you get there most of the poeple will be wearing jeans and some sort of button down shirt. They all get their papers also I'm sure. But I had a handshake, 3 copies of a "Welcome to the US" letter printed out, and a confirmation they were going to approve. Was it the attire? Don't know and don't care :)

The choice is yours to make. Wear what you feel comfortable in yet is presentable.

Can't believe people wear suits to the interview! All thay care about is your relationship, not how you dress. We wore jeans - no problem!

I wore jeans with a button up collared shirt. Nothing fancy. ( of course in Arizona in July, when we had our interview, was around 117 degrees! )

I did not see any suits n ties amongst the 50 or so others that were waiting.

I would suggest business casual.
