I had my interview today. 6 easy questions that I can't all remember now...

Who was the first president?

Who's the current governor of my state?

What is one of the promises you make when becoming a US citizen?

Name two federal holidays.

The usual writing and reading test.

All she wanted to see was my driver's license and my Green Card. I carried my stack of papers just for good looks :-)

The interview was right on time at 1:00PM and lasted 20 minutes and then I walked out with my recommendation for approval.

She said the letter for the oath ceremony would get mailed to me within 90 days.

And so now it's the waiting game again :-)

Congrats to our new citizen, Nad! Updating with interview dates.

Also, I propose just changing the text to red after taking oath. Adding text afterwards makes the line wraparound and will make the list harder to read as we go on.

Hi everyone,

For the NEW YORK CITY filers, has anybody placed a service request??, I believe we are allowed to do so if it has been more than 40 days since our application has been placed in line for interview scheduling and we still didnt get an interview date. It's unbelievable that every district in the country is moving except for new york, even NY july filers didnt get an interview date. The weird thing is that we have 3 facilities that take care of cases here, Garden City, Holtsville and Federal Plaza. Both Holtsville and Garden City are pretty big, but we are still being left behind. Anyway my 40 days is coming up friday next week, they will be hearing from me that's for sure. Second service request coming on the way, one for fingerprints and one for interview, GOD!!. Please let me know where I can buy some patience, cos I am running out of it, Lool.

You and I filed on the same date. I haven't contacted them about it yet... Is a service request the same as InfoPass?

Contacting my congressman has helped us before with both of my wife's green card applications. So maybe I'll try that route again...

Service request is placed over the phone, but if you schedule an info pass then you will have to go inquire in person. I wouldnt go far to involve my congressman yet since it is officially not out of processing time, if after 5 months of waiting and repeated attempts to resolve the issue with USCIS are unsuccessful then it makes sense to ask for help from the congressman. Its a waiting game right now.

Let me chime in, since I'm in the same boat as you guys.

Haven't heard anything back and would feel extremely lucky if I got IL in November.

I don't think it's possible to open a SR for interview scheduling, unless the rules have changed.

They go by processing times. NYC DO posted on Oct 18 that as of Aug 31 they are processing cases N400 from March 28, 2011.

This all $ucks big time, on top of being slow NYC DO is known for it's bad attitude.

Hi everyone,

For the NEW YORK CITY filers, has anybody placed a service request??, I believe we are allowed to do so if it has been more than 40 days since our application has been placed in line for interview scheduling and we still didnt get an interview date. It's unbelievable that every district in the country is moving except for new york, even NY july filers didnt get an interview date. The weird thing is that we have 3 facilities that take care of cases here, Garden City, Holtsville and Federal Plaza. Both Holtsville and Garden City are pretty big, but we are still being left behind. Anyway my 40 days is coming up friday next week, they will be hearing from me that's for sure. Second service request coming on the way, one for fingerprints and one for interview, GOD!!. Please let me know where I can buy some patience, cos I am running out of it, Lool.

I think we just have to play the waiting game. New York seems to be on a long backlog like DC. Some June and July filers still seem to be waiting.

I became a citizen today! A small ceremony, only 15 new citizens in the foyer/ waiting room of the Fort Smith USCIS office. For me, the most moving part was the video of "Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood they played at the end. My naturalisation cert remains unsigned as we don't seem to have a black pen at home! Must buy one tomorrow so I can sign it and send off for my passport next week.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
