Hello July filers!

We just received three phone messages with three receipt numbers. We had sent applications for AOS, EAD, and AP on July 19. They were delivered on the 20th per UPS. The messages said the applications were "accepted". I assume that means the applications had the right forms and signatures and the check was for the right amount. Any other significance to these messages?

Likewise, I've read about a ton of people on here who did it successfully. I'm not sure if my local office will take walk-ins, but I live very close to there, so it is not a big deal if we get turned away.

I am a US citizen and filed with my wife for AOS; forms I-130 and I-485 concurrently (along with G-325A's, I 864 and all relevant supporting documents). The documents were sent to the Chicago Lockbox in one packet and were delivered on July 14, 2011. However, we received our entire packet back in the mail on July 20th along with the original checks. The only reason given for the rejection of the forms was on a I-797C Notice of Action attached to the I-130. It read, "the signature is not contained in the signature block of the application...the "Signature of person preparing form, if other than above" block is not a valid signature for this purpose." However, I signed my I-130 in blue ink in block E "Signature of Petitioner", which should be the proper spot for my signature. In addition, the I-797C also read, "your I-130 is being returned to you because the eligibility you filed under requires that you file a I-485 also." However, I included my wife's I-485 in the original packet with the relevant supporting documents. We feel like we did all the necessary research on the process and filed our documents properly, with a table of contents for the entire packet and each individual form, along with all relevant supporting documentation. So, we are perplexed by the reasons given for initial rejection. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.

Just tracked my I-485 case status online and what I see is Request for Evidence. I'm anxious as to what this Evidence will be but I am thinking it has to do with my sponsor because my Wife didn't earn much last tax year but she is expected to earn enough this year and I sent in letter from her job and pay stubs to that effect. Hope it is not something that will be hard to get.
