I-485, Question 8-Need Help

So I'm filling out the I-485 for my husband and I think I should check yes for Question #8 on the I-485, but need your opinion. The question asks if he was ever removed from the United States at the government's expense. My fiance was denied at POE when he was 16yrs old and sent back to his country. Should we check yes?

If he was denied entry, he was probably sent back at his expense yes? Well, this was the case when I was denied entry. Have you asked him?

then the answer is no. He was not "deported", he was just put back on the plane.

I should mention though (sorry for not doing it before) that he was "denied admission". So any time he's asked that, his answer is yes.

He definitely didn't pay for anything.

If he was simply denied admission and allowed to withdraw his application then the airline is usually obligated to seat him. However, the airline can seek reimbursement if they choose. If he was subjected to expedited removal then the US government pays the tab. He'd also usually get a five year ban.
