Given that the clinic has to be approved by the consulate, I think fraud by the clinic is a long shot although still possible. After all, one person reporting this and the clinic could be decertified and not allowed to do any more exams for the consulate. That's not to say there isn't some enterprising person at the clinic looking to make a fast buck, but if she already has the results and they didn't offer a way to "make it go away" then I think you're past the possible fraud stage. I don't know that the consulate would take an updated blood test result from another clinic that is not on their list but since it is highly treatable, the first concern is getting it treated and taking care of your health. In the meantime, double and triple check everything in both of your backgrounds to see any potential red flags and be ready to address these. I think it is kind of a ####### shoot now and the VO will look at a number of different factors including which province your SO is from (I had read on another forum that certain provinces can be red flagged).

Not to change subject.

I am a Healthcare Student (Nursing) someone asked about syphilis and it's treatment. In the United State it must be reported to Public Health officials.

Syphilis is treatable, mostly with antibiotics. The issue if that even if it physically looked cured, I believe they require several blood titers drawn and tested over 24 months to make sure the infection is gone.

I do not know what the U.S. and China immigration services will tell you as to a time frame on whatthey consider it to be eradicated from the beneficiaries body and good enough for travel overseas.

Good Luck!

So I am curious now. What sort of things and STD's do they test for at the medical exam. Is there a link somewhere that explains this.

It's possible she'll have a medical waiver on the VISA stamp, as well, after a bit of time. At least, I'm HOPING GUZ IV will give her the medical waiver...

Is a medical exam with + for Syphilis an automtic visa admistravit review or other type of review that will delay a visa? Not a denial I know, but will she get a visa if she pass the interview day. If a medical fails would that be a no visa chance in the present time?

Bad news is never good news..

I have a question. Why do you specifically think that the results of the medical exam could indicate Syphilis? Did the medical clinic say these words to you or did you hear by third party that the medical exam shows positive for Syphilis? This very same thing happened to my fiancee last month and we were both in shock. She frantically went to a different hospital to have another blood test in order to obtain a second opinion. It turned out that the results were negative from both tests and my fiancee recieved the medical report on Tuesday instead of Wendsday, as was originally told to her.

So just try to calm down and wait for the official results. If your wife wants to talk to my fiancee then I can provide you with her contact info. My fiancee says that she would be more than happy to help her with any questions.

negative sphilis - indicates absence of syphillus

positive syphillus - indicates syphillus is present.

I'll scream for joy for 'true negative', buddy.

Sounds more positive then yesterday, aye?

Back

Will get result back from doctor on wednesday.

Was not aware of this, no signs or symptoms on both of us. so this caught us by surprise.

I will be also going for a test myself soon because of this even though I had my blood test for std last year. Note not a sexually active person nor she trust here. so this probably has been domaint in both or one of us since a couple years. but then again we are waiting the result on wednesday this is bascially our guess that we have it as of now.

Wednesday will be a big day for both of us, ignoring the fact of the visa and interview process now.

syphilis is totally curable, hopefully if we do have it is a single shot pencilin or a couple of time depending how long we had this .

this is not the kind of test i wanted for our relationship, but things happen for a reason. this subject made my heart stop a second then i realize I love her unconditional and she me...we go through this together...only time will tell..but its curable thank god...

I admire you for you courage and love for your wife. Its not the end of the world for you and believe me there are so many couples who's passing through the same situation like yours, God must have a purpose why this happened. Also the fact that this is curable, wow! this such a blessing, knowing that you will not suffer this for a long time.. Just keep the faith everything will gonna be alright for you and your wife. We will be praying for both of you. God bless you -Tim & Tess-

this made my wife feel better. it really tested our love even though we didn't need this emotional test.

Write to Guangzhou IV unit filing a complaint letter . Attach the result from the other hospital .

This is very bad !!! I hope they will revoke their license .

May have been either fraud, mistake or simply a false positive. False positive's seem to be pretty common as described by a medical professional earlier.
