I actually agree. In fact, I would go a step further and ban golf from the presidency entirely. Heck, let's just ban it altogether.

Golf courses are a waste of space. They could be used for homeless camps: Bunkers for latrines, and water hazards for bathing.

That's not quite true - there was a lot of stuff said about Bush. For instance that he spent a significant amount of time during his first term on his ranch, which led to accusations that he wasn't all hands on deck.

Some Americans apparently like to see duality in these things - they take one incident where Bush was playing golf and like to transpose/compare the media/public reaction to a completely different incident where Obama is playing golf (as if doing so could ever be meaningful in anything but the most simplistic and trivial sense). When Americans bemoan the dumbing down of America, this sort of thing is a perfect example.

As to golf - the only Bush incident I know of is the "watch this drive" thing where Bush came off looking rather crass after he said that line after a speech about the war on terror. That said, it's not particularly meaningful.

The main difference between Bush and Obama in this respect is that Bush conducted press conferences during his leisure time - presumably because his PR team thought it would make people see him as an everyman. Obama, I believe does the opposite (likely also for PR reasons).

I normally go to the veterans cemetery later after the crowd leaves that came just for the entertainment. That way I can have more peace to clean and leave a few flowers at my fathers grave. I also have for many years gotten to know the surrounding grave stones and clean theirs too.

I expected more from you, Bill. Obama's bloodline doesn't include just his Kenyan kin, but his American grandfather as well. He served as a sergeant in the Army during WWII and was laid to rest in Punchbowl National Cemetery in Hawaii. So, I'm sure instead of having someone to call friend, he called him Grandpa. Which brings me to my question, who the hell are you to question how Obama's knows friends or family who can be buried with such honor? Oh, I know, just some crochety old man.
