I think that for some reason people like to send in more than what is asked. Just like when your pulled over by the cops, only answer the questions asked. haha

It is amazing how clear the instructions are and then someone starts talking about 3 years of tax returns. I simply don't think it is needed folks. Where does that come from??

October 2003 Met Vivian on business trip. She and I worked for same company.

May 2004 Second business trip--started our romance.

Aug 2005 Third business trip--still in love but could not commit. Was not going to move.

May 2007 Fourth trip, Vivian got married but we still saw each other. Started to regret.

June 2008 Another business trip but I had vowed to get her back. Vivian was now seperated.

Late 2008 My divorce final (after 5 year seperation!) 2 weeks in Shanghai--met Vivian's parents.

Jan 2009 Vivian's divorce final. She came to USA for 10 days to meet my family.

March 2009 Went to Shanghai and on a 3 day Beijing trip I proposed at the Great Wall!

July 2009 Vivian makes a second trip to see Minnesota in the summer. (It was 10 below last trip!)

Aug 2009 - Started K-1 Visa process...

8/13/09 - USCIS cashed the check!

8/17/09 - NOA 1

Oct 2009 - Vivian visits USA - proves that she can work hard! ;-)

11/2/09 - I-129 Approval!!

3/30/10 - Interview scheduled (After 2 month delay due to TB test (clean))!

7/20/11 - married!

The only thing that I would say to this is --- when I emailed the embassy they didn't want the bank deposits (On the instructions) and they asked for last years tax returns (I am not self employed and they knew that). I guess it is sort of a dynamic process depending on where you are being processed. It is funny to me that the government makes these instructions and rules, but then they don't even follow them.

The I-134 instructions are written by USCIS. But the form is used by Department of State consular officers—who are not even required to use the form. It is simply a useful tool for them to collect information to determine that the public charge requirements are met. They have wide latitude in making this determination, and the individual consulates' policies govern which evidence they want to see.

Bottom line for the I-134: find out what your consulate requires and provide accordingly. There is no simple, one-size-fits-all set of guidelines like there is with the I-864.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

I have a few questions reguarding the I-134. I just moved back to my home town to help save money. I am currently a nanny for my sisters two children I live in there guest house and they pay me 1600.00 monthly. Before moving I worked as a nurse but I usually cashed my paycheck and did not use my checking accout much, my sister is willing to be a co-sponor if needed. Here are my questions.

1. I do not have many assest and I am just over the 125% is it in my best intrest to use a co-sponsor

2. Because I do not use my checking account much it does not look good on paper will this be a problem?

I am just trying to gather everything I need, and do not want to screw anything up! Thank you for your help!!

I am in the process of filling our the I-134. I have my 5 children who live with me. I will claim them as dependents on this years tax return. I will be receiving court ordered child support from their father. I am wondering if I should mark partially or fully dependent. Also, where could I include child support as income? Should I include documents from Friend of the Court stating how much he is to pay? Thank you in advance from your help in this matter. :)

I have a quick question... I keep seeing people talk about the last 3 years of tax returns with the I-134... The only thing i found in the USCIS instructions about tax returns were if a person was self employed. Then they needed to submit tax returns... and even then it only asked for the last years return. Am I reading this wrong, or is this stuff asked for somewhere else?

As of now I have:

1. The letter from my employer

2. By Friday I will have the information from my bank

Since I am not self employed do I have to have the tax returns? If I do have to have the tax returns my next question is can I just get a copy of the last 3 years taxes from my accountant and have them notarized or do I have to get the transcripts from the IRS?

It won't be of help to you now, but in case someone else has this question- when my fiance did his interview they were more interested in my tax returns than anything else, and I am not self employed. Since it will vary from consulate to consulate its better to have them.

Yeah, i hear ya on that.... I emailed the consulate in Helsinki to find out exactly what they needed. I would say that is the safest bet.

Since I'm military, would the consulate accept my LES? It has everything on it that they want for the affidavit. I could send them a copy of the instructions on what each section means.

http://www.dfas.mil/militarypay/militaryem...ng_your_les.pdf

Are there any military members that know if this would work, or should I give them a call to be sure?

I wanted to edit my post, but I don't see an edit button so I'm posting again. I know I have to give the consulate a copy of my bank statement, but does it have to show all of my deposits and withdrawals? Some of this stuff they just don't need to see. I'd hate to be judged on my spending habits.

Hi! Our case just moved on to the NVC so I'm trying to prepare for the next step, interview materials!!

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this question...

If I am unemployed do I need to submit an I-134? If so what should I say for question #7?

I'm living with my parents at the moment, they meet the requirements for support and are more than happy to sponsor my fiance, should they submit the I-134 instead of me or in addition?

Also, my fiance has a good income and lots of savings of his own, are they interested in hearing this at the interview or is it only a matter of having a US sponsor?

Thanks for your help everyone!

I have a question about one of the documents requested for I-134.

The bank letter asks for a statement asking the total money deposited in the past year.

I called my bank asking for a letter and they said that they can provide a letter with date account opened, type of account and the present balance but cannot list the amount deposited in the past year. Will it be OK if I submit my affidavit without the past year deposit information?

This is for Bahrain embassy and I make sufficient income to satisfy the poverty-line criteria.

I had the same problem, but when I emailed the Finnish Embassy they said that it was not needed. One thing I heard from various people is that each embassy is different so the only thing I would suggest is emailing your embassy and ask them specifically what you need for your packet.

hello vj'ers.. I just had my interview t0day. And the consul said i'm ok. But there's an rfe i need to submit which is the income tax return of my fiance. He has the document but didn't sent me along with the other documents needed from him coz he said he read it on website that the income tax return is not needed already if you have the letter from the company his working on. They want me to give them his 2009 income tax and w-2' but he only have the income tax. He doesn't do w-2 coz he's not self employed. He's a partner(lawyer) on a big law firm in the u.s. Can he just scan and email me his income tax return? Or should it be the original copy coming from him? Hope someone knows what's best to do here. Thanks....
