The Myth, the Legend, the NOA2

I was beginning to doubt the existence of the NOA2. Some days it felt like more of a myth. An old wives tale. Something parents use to bribe and coerce their kinds into being good and eating their vegetables. As in "if you're a good little boy, the USCIS elf fairy will bring you an NOA2 while you're sleeping."

Then it happened. I noticed a new email and for a few seconds I could not move. Shock had come over me and it took me a few seconds more to grasp what was going on. It felt like a cruel joke my eyes were playing on me. I read the lines at least five times. I had read the time countless times before. Somehow it read differently this time.

I always felt like I had missed something and that an RFE was certain. Over 50 picture of us from my 9 trips to Japan and her 3 trips to California. Copies of numerous boarding passes, Shinkansen receipts, visa stamps. I even included a receipt from a coke I got at Narita airport. Yet the feeling that something was missing was always hovering like a specter.

All that is a distant dream now. There are now reports that US Citizens are being encouraged to evacuate Tokyo and Yokohama due to elevated radiation levels. Not sure how this will affect our interview process. But we have much bigger things to worry about. Still, it's so great to finally have the NOA2.

You mean it does exist after all??!!

I thought it went Loch-ness Monster, Bigfoot, Abominable Snowman, and NOA2.

Only very rare and supposed sightings but never truly confirmed.

Good to know that it does exist somewhere in the world.

Congrats for that and good luck with your upcoming dealings in Japan, hopefully they will be less painful.

Congrats! I know it's been a long time, as for us, but the slooowwwww wheels of government are actually in motion, though sometimes it seems they move not.

At least you got an email... I was signed up for both email and text notification, but ours came via snail mail about 10 days after being sent to the NVC. Still not sure why I didn't get an email or a text. Oh well.

Now we are waiting on the Philippine Embassy to contact my fiance'. Another country's process to deal with. Hay naku!!
