Permanant Resident with Visa in 2 months-Is This Real?

Hey all. We received my wife's visa packet and passport in the mail today. Yay! Plane tickets already purchased. I am really grateful. However, is this real? We filed in mid January. It's the first week of March now. So that's less than 2 months! Why do I always read it takes up to two YEARS for the visa. Everyone knows that this country is full of thieves and scammers. So I'm thankful, yet wondering: is this a real visa? They already messed up our marriage certificate AND passport. So I have to wonder if this is fake too. Any similar stories? Thanks

25 Oct 2010- Met as a joke, when I replied to a Filipina dating site, just for laughs, whilst browsing cheap apartments between jobs/visas

02 Nov 2010-Left China to meet this wonderful girl

20 Dec 2010 - Married in Mindanao

03 Jan 2011 - I-130 Filed in Manila, despite missing MC and LB (5 min processing at the US Embassy-no attorney)

15 Jan 2011- I-130 Approved

02 Mar 2011-Visa Interview-Approved

Real..? No..! Where is this coming from..? Even if the case was approved in 14 days from USCIS processed at the NVC with a min. of 14 days still not possible.. but lets here what the others will say.. If it was though - that's great..!

It's DCF but still.. dont think it moves that quick..

That's how DCF is - it never went to USCIS, but the I-130 was adjudicated at the Philippine embassy.

Is it real? I don't know - I haven't seen it ;) But yes, that's how fast DCF is. Good luck!

What a bragger!!!!!

You filed directly at the Embassy. You must also be retired and living in the Philippines to qualify on the income requirement.

Apparently it is much faster to file a DCF.

For us slugs that are still working and living in the USA, we have to play by the rules and have a residence established here in the USA.

When filing in the USA, it takes much longer. 5 months minimum at the USCIS and around 9 to 10 months from NOA1 to interview.

Good try in BS ing everyone else.

Its ok the petitioner played within the rules... The only difference is filing location YOU too can do this if you go and setup shop / house there. The petitioner must leave once the person migrates to the USA.

I'm cool with it.

How is my immense fear, bragging?

Um, no. Why would you think that?

Living and working in other nations is still "playing by the rules". I don't know about the NOAs, as that's not part of the "DCF"

Good try in BS ing everyone else.

I don't get you. You just come on here, make up #######, and accuse people of things?

Seriously? Wow!

If you are in doubt, why not contact the embassy.

Congratulations

The embassy is the one that issues the visa. It's not likely they will admit to lying and scamming me. It's run by Filipinos. Everyone knows they will do anything to steal your money.

On an aside: why is the Embassy of the USA run by foreigners, with foreign soldiers guarding outside? It's not like the movies is it? Doesn't make a US Citizen feel very safe or comfortable...

So it did! With all the horror stories I hear, it is a relief to hear that I am not the only one. I guess living here, I've become paranoid that everyone is trying to steal my pesos, because I am white! lol

Thank you

And thanks to everyone else for a little reassurance, and for the cheers. The laws requiring family and spouses to have a visa first can be frustrating. I'm glad this went way quicker than expected. I'm glad also, that there shouldn't be any scam going on here. I was just afraid I'd be charged a few thousand bucks more, or denied at the port of entry.

Don't believe the fixers when they tell long stories about how hard it is! Good luck to all, and thanks again for your time!

IV Officials are American Citizens. The rest of the staff are not.

it is not 'run' by Filipinos - at all.

as to 'running' - pay attention to those with power - ask them their citizenship - and pay attention on the answers.

(ps - you ready to pack yer sh|t and git?)
