Thanks for all the advice so far. However, after taking the advice and crafting my section 18 of the I-129F to read:

"We met on a social networking website known as Tagged.com in late 2009. From there, our friendship grew to the point were it was decided that I would fly over to meet her. After spending 6 days with Amy and her family, I realized upon returning home that I didn't want to be without her and proposed via Facebook on 1-17-11. Amy accepted on 1-18-11."

Is a I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18, explanation of meeting in person really necessary? I think I was able to say everything that needed to be said within the space allowed on the I-129F. Thoughts and suggestions, everyone? Thanks in advance.

Current Status: Married on March 3, 2012. Preparing for AOS.

You should write this down on a separate piece of paper, explaining how you two met, when did that happen, how you met the parents and ect. Basically, anything important about your relationship.

Good luck!

Beware of a long story if your fiance don't know all the details. The COs pick the forms for facts and if they ask the beneficiary an odd fact drawn from a long story she can be denied for not knowing. What you already wrote is fine.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

LOL all good in that regard in my case then. I am both the beneficiary and the person who prepared the paperwork, the USC didnt feel comfortable doing it...

If what you typed here is the only information you are planning to provide, then you do not need a supplemental page and that information will fit in the box provided for question 18. I provided a supplemental page, but only because my explanation was lengthier than a short paragraph and really could not fit in the space provided. Other members whose petitions have been approved have reported writing really small narratives (such as yours) without encountering any problems.

Best wishes! (F)

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

USCIS is concerned only that both of you are free to marry and that you have met in person within two years before filing. It's not necessary to convince USCIS of anything else. However...

Question #18 is crucial at the consular stage. In high-fraud countries, or if you have met your fiance/e just once or comparatively briefly before filing the I-129F petition, "evidence of bona fide relationship" becomes more important. "Front-loading" of an I-129F petition includes elaboration of one's answer on Question #18.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I'm about to file my 129F soon. I attached a separate sheet regarding question 18, and explained how we met. It might've fit on the actual form, but I still made an attachment. I also elaborated on this in my original statement. Which contained more details of our relationship.

Just briefly detail the circumstances of how you met in person. Dates and place only. No detail of how you initially met or your love story is needed. As mentioned, for a few consulates front loading is a good idea but the Philippines is not one of them where it is needed.

Like most things concerning the application process, it's better to do too much than too little when it comes to explaining. Just make sure you are A. telling the truth and B. your significant other knows everything you are putting into it.

I'd go into more details - doesn't hurt, doesn't cost anything, doesn't take much time but it could make all the difference.

I don't like it because you did not describe when you met. No dates, no places named, nothing. They don't care about all the other stuff except when and where you met.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Anything more than the above is way too much. You are describing how you MET IN PERSON, not how you proposed. You will both sign "letters of intent" that meets the requirement that you are willing to marry. They do not need love stories.

Adding dates is fine. the dates are not important except that it must be within two years of filing the petition. I DID mention the date we met in my explanation.
