Your 18 mpg is city driving for the WRX STi, which is still quoted at 23mpg highway. Add a few mpg for practical highway driving (the 2003 Outback is slated for 23 mpg, too according to www.fueleconomy.gov, compared to the 31 mpg I actually measured) and it's better than most AWD vehicles out there.

So, yes, it's pretty good.

Lets call it what it is..... mediocre. I actually love the Impreza WRX. Took me a long time to convince myself not to buy it.

ETA: I just looked up my car on that link. It says my S4 should get 13 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. Over the past 3 years, I have consistently gotten 30 highway and about 15-18 city.

So, the government are lying to us on their website, as well?

Or is it just that they can't count?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

guess people are getting more stupid with the increased technology of today.

grew up in the NE States with RWD ... never got stuck ... even in the deepest of snows ... just waited for the SP to come by ... who doesn't ... doh ... and if no SP ... just take it easy ...

with the introduction of FWD cars ... got into more places in deep snow with even less problems .... with or SP breaking paths .... gawd the places i've gotten into (my wife can't believe ... yet i have witness)

guess there are lots of people who drive beyond THEIR limits ....

That's funny. Out here it's usually the big SUV's rolled over off the interstate because some redneck thought he was driving a tank.

I was going to say the same, I live in a particularly brutal winter weather area. When the wind blows, and it can really blow, nobody can see where they are going.

But the one's in ditches or rolled over tend to be SUV's.

I have a Miata which I do not use much in the winter, but I do have studed snow tires and a lot more grip than most SUV owners. The F 150 with good tires and a few bags of sand in the back is my more normal winter transport. But the important thing is not the ground clearance, it is the tires.

And whatever Nessa wants, Nessa gets?

And what? Whatever Alla wants, Alla gets. She does quite well getting around Vermont in a convertible sports car (front wheel drive, of course). She stays in the valley for the most part, it is probably not a good mountain car. We use the AWD mini-van to drive to the ski resorts. But that is what she wanted.

Is there some problem with one spouse doing what they can for the other? Did I miss that part where we are supposed to say "no" when we can say "yes"?

Just say "Damn Right!" and be proud of it. And if anyone asks "Why?" just say "Because I CAN"

I keep track of my mileage and efficiency. Yeah, I know it's weird.

Of course! Not only is your car 10 times faster than the official spec, it also gets better mileage!

Why am I not surprised? It gives blowjobs too, I hear.

####### is up your #######? All I said was that my car gets better efficiency than what the website says. So? Is it really beyond the realm of possibilities? Donno what got your panties in a bunch.
