A friend sent me a list of new fees that USCIS implemented. It said under the IV Application Process Fee for Family Based Immigrant Visa that it had changed as of July 13, 2010 from $355 to $330. Does anyone know if this is true?? Like someone who has just recently submited their I-130 package?? This info came from VJ news, but I wanted to check and see if someone had actually submitted the package with the new fee in place.

no, this is wrong information...the fee did not go down, BUT it will be going up to $420 on November 23. K1 fee will be going down.

2/9/11- NOA2 (transferred to Texas)

2/28/11- case number received

3/2/11- Paid AOS bill

3/5/11- Paid IV bill

3/12/11- expedite to Bogota consulate approved!!!

3/14/11- left NVC to Bogota for further processing

3/17/11- received by Bogota, emailed consulate and was told to send DS-230 and DS-2100 (packet 3)

3/18/11- packet 3 emailed to Bogota consulate, email confirmation on March 23

3/31/11- Interview date! Approved!!!!!!

Now that my husband is a citizen, we are preparting documents to apply to bring his parents here.

The way I am reading Tabta's question is will she have to pay the difference in fees at her interview if she does not have the Visa by Nov. 23. She is all ready at NVC stage according to her timeline. Would she and also me (why I ask)have to the pay difference. It seems to me that it only applies to new I-130 cases postmarked November 23 or later.

I would agree. :thumbs:

IMO there should be no additional fees owed if you have already submitted your petition and it is past the approval stage.

NO. Some people here are confusing the terms "visa" and "petition". The I-130 is a petition, not a visa. The I-130 fee is a petition filing fee, so you pay the applicable fee at the time you file. A separate "visa application fee" will be paid later. They are separate fees to separate government agencies at different times.

A petition is not a visa application. Please stop confusing people by interchanging the terms.
