I was twice denied tourist visa under section 214(b) and this is because I have so many family members in the US, I have an interview scheduled and I am curious to know what effect this may have on the outcome. though I mentioned to CO during tourist visa application that I had a wife resident in the US. anybody with past experiences?

Previous denials of a tourist visa will not be a factor in when you interview for an IR-1/CR-1 visa.

The only reason it would be is if you were denied for criminal reasons, or anything like that. Being refused because they were worried you'll immigrate of course does not affect an immigrant petition because of course you're trying to immigrate.

I'm not so sure. Since I can be a mean person. let me put on my "mean Bob" hat and sit there with you in Ghana at the US consulate, okay?

Yo, Newbie, you wanna immigrate to the US?

Yes, Sire, I do.

Didn't you apply for a visitor's visa? Twice?

Yes, Sire, I did.

Yet we denied your request. Twice. You remember that?

Yes, Sire, I do.

You know why we denied your requests before?

Yes, Sire, I do.

Why's that, boy?

Well, Sire, you assumed I had immigrant intent, would perhaps want to stay in the US.

That's right, son. But you denied that, didn't you?

Yes, Sire, I did.

But now you are dropping your mask, by formally asking for the permission to immigrate to the US, huh?

Yes, Sire, I do.

Well . . . so you were lying to us when you filed your previous applications! We were right . . . you had immigrant intent all along. You know how we call that here?

No, Sire, I do not.

We call that misrepresentation. You know what we do with people who misrepresent themselves or their intent, when explicitly asked about it?

No, Sire, I don't.

We deny their request. Plain and simple. Now get the #### out of my office!

Well, that was fun. Not sayin' it's gonna be like that, but be prepared for a mean-spirited consular officer who might ask you some questions.

Good luck!

(Taking "Mean Bob" hat off now.)

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

ROFLMAO...when they ask me when I cross to go visit..I tell them, at this point I'm visiting...once the process is done..yes I'll be immigrating. They always shut up after that..especially since I've crossed and returned about a dozen times in the last 4.5 months.

lol... mean Bob was kinda right but if it is IR1/CR1 which means is married to USC, I dont know if that application can be turned down.

Even though when they know you have lied in past on your both interview, they will me making sure that this relation is a legit one and was not just done for user to move to US.

They will pull out each and every question out of their hat and make sure the relation is a good faith one.
