Maven, you are my spirit animal. :star:

Tell me: did you use a sultry phone-sex voice while reading the legalese? And did you read really, really slooooowly to torture the poor creature?

Sidebar: I "dated" an attorney once. We did more bickering than boinking, but Lawdy, the man did have a way with words. Verbal banter is the best foreplay (and afterplay).

I spoke very sincerely, with a slightly stentorian aspect. I hate to admit it (though I have already this week, I confess) but I went to law school in London so technically I AM a lawyer (non-practising), so I have some background in reading such documents. Unfortunately, I was the one getting distracted. I only managed to make it through the section on Plaintiffs' Witnesses before I had to throw the damn thing on the floor.

Mmm. Hair up in a stern-but-sexy chignon? Bespoke power suit (navy, with subtle charcoal pinstripe)? Maybe him in judge's robes and a powdered wig? Gavel in hand?

DETAILS, woman.

I seriously need to get a boyfriend. Obviously.

You do. Then we can swap stories. D likes me to gossip about him too, so get yourself one of those and we can go to TOWN.

I was wearing knickers and reading glasses.star_smile.gif

Yeah, what's the deal with profile pics with those dopey hipster hats? Is it to disguise baldness?

LOL, men have no idea what they are getting by looking at profile pics. heck, even in person it isn't so easy with all the makeup, hair coloring, thick re-enforced steel laced underwear and high heels to elongate the body so she looks thinner. geez, the misrepresentation should be a crime.

12 years ago i made a huge mistake - lasik eye surgery. i found it much better when i could take my contacts out and never know the truth.

You were lucky. According to the US Embassy medical back in the day, I have 20:20 vision

Good thing the other half doesn't test my imagination ;):dance:

Post containing obscenities in German and Latin - even if it is Catullus (Carmen 16, especially the first line, is renowned as one of the most obscene pieces of literature even for a poet who used it often) - has been removed. Posting obscenities and swear words in other languages are still not allowed and violate TOS.

There is no love of the classics on VJ. I learned that poem in high school, for pete's sake, and I translated it as part of a summer fellowship at UCLA. :(

Boss, d'you think the mods are ragging on you for your "-1" campaign?

If so, I'll engage the first mod in that most ancient of martial arts - Ecky Thump.

There is a great love of the classics on VJ, at least by me - I did my Honours BA in Classical Studies which included several years of Latin and Greek. I read Catullus in the original and even then this particular poem was treated very carefully. Latin can be an incredibly explicit language in these matters and Catullus used it very well. Even though it is a piece of classical literature, its publication here on VJ is still a violation of TOS.

That roar you just heard was the thundering of thousands of VJ fingers furiously Googling an English translation of Carmen 16.

I know I sure did.

The splash page on the site I went to was classic:

WARNING

This Poem includes references to the digestive and reproductive systems that may give offence.
