The source of most illegal immigration is from Latim America. I giess we need to import more illegals from other parts of the globe in the name of fairness.

Most of our criminal laws are unjust as the number of minorities behind bars exceeds their number in the general population. Clear case of racial profiling.

Why do you think pot was made illegal in the first place? And how do you justify the huge disparity in legal penalties for crack vs cocaine? Nope, no racial aspects to our laws...

It just goes to show that support for the law has a racial bias. While most of the illegal immigrants come from Mexico and some other central American countries. There are around a million illegal immigrants here from Asian countries and somewhere between 100,000 to 200,000 are from Canada and other European countries.

No it doesn't.

Rather it shows that one man, Brian Sandoval, has proved himself to be an idiot and that he is unlikely to get elected in November because of it.

agreed. i wonder if my cousin, who is half klamath/modoc but gets mistaken for being hispanic all the time and lives in phoenix, is more likely to be harassed by police there than hugh laurie with his spot on american accent but foreign birthplace would be... but according to some of these idiots, she should just have to put up with it anyway. it's her own damn fault for looking like one of them illegals in the first place.

Are you implying that the majority of pot smokers now are Hispanic?

I don't see pot becoming legal even if millions of middle class whites smoke it so your racial theory goes up in smoke.

Your crackheads for Obama line needs to consider the following:

"Obama administration urges equal penalties for crack, powder cocaine dealers

Testifying before a Senate judiciary subcommittee, Breuer and other witnesses said that the guidelines, instituted in 1986 when authorities feared that crack use was becoming an epidemic, were based on faulty assumptions -- including that crack users were far more violent and dangerous to the community than powder cocaine users."

http://articles.latimes.com/2009/apr/30/nation/na-crack30

"Many of the hearing witnesses, including members of the Sentencing Commission, acknowledged important differences between crack and powder cocaine: crack is more addictive than powder cocaine; it accounts for more emergency room visits; it is most popular among juveniles; it has a greater likelihood of being associated with violence; and crack dealers have more extensive criminal records than other drug dealers and tend to use young people to distribute the drug at a greater rate. In short, the evidence overwhelmingly demonstrates significant distinctions between crack and powder cocaine.

Importantly, with regard to the question of racial disparity, the Sentencing Commission's own report states, "Clearly, the penalties apply equally to similar defendants, regardless of race. * * * [T]here is no evidence that Congress or the Sentencing Commission acted with any discriminatory intent in setting different statutory guideline penalties for different forms of cocaine." The Administration expressed its opposition to the Commission's proposal to reduce the penalties for crack cocaine trafficking offenses.

There's more pros and cons in the article.

My wife is a dark haired, green eyed Slavic Russian and has gotten the same treatment more than once. Apparently Hispanics think she is Hispanic. They don't even know their own people, yet they whine incessantly about being "racially profiled". Apparently they racially profile too because she "looks" like a Hispanic to them. Oh gawd! How racist! Shame! Shame! Judging a book by its cover.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

No racial profiling - the brain operates by categorizing what it sees in order to make sense of the world around you. That is where stereotyping comes from.

During my repeat visits to Colombia, I was blown away by seeing Chinese-Colombians, Afro-Colombians, Lebanese-Colombians, German-Colombians, French (or Franco-Colombians), etc. You cannot stereotype a Colombian by bronze-colored skin and Black hair.

Colombian women look like what? :hehe:

So, what is the argument? That "Hispanic looking" people should be exempt from questioning about immigration status, but everyone else should be questioned, just to make it "fair"? I don't get it. If "Hispanic looking" people are the majority of those who enter Arizona illegally, what's racist about expecting that demographic to be questioned? It's also mostly Hispanics and Hispanic race pimping groups that identify the trespassers are part of their constituency.

Hell, as an Arab Muslim and I expect that people going to look harder at Muslims when identifying terrorists, and that is understandable. Cries of racism are just guilt tactics that work all too well on their targets, but they are just plain old manipulative BS. Too bad it's so hard to convince White folks who fall for this ####### that it's only designed to make them fold, even when they shouldn't. That's why I like Jan Brewer so much; she's not letting it stop her :luv:

when 20% (1 in 5) of a Demographic are "illegals" - you'd almost hope for profiling...

Almost? We already do it! If someone witnesses a black dude murder someone, they sure the he!! are not going to avoid looking for a black suspect because hes black.

Using race can and should always be used. It narrows the search.

oh yes, those are totally comparable circumstances . if you think that a hispanic saleslady at macy's mistakenly thinking your wife is hispanic or some shite is a parallel experience to being stopped by police for no other reason than looking hispanic, being detained by police if you can't immediately provide proof of citizenship or legality and possibly being held in a jail cell or one of those freakish tent city jails until you can prove you're "legal" then you are a complete idiot.

immigration laws need to be enforced in a way that does not possibly ensnare and harass american citizens and others who are here legally because they might sorta kinda look like a mexican.
