My fiance and I have received the instructions and appointment letter but on both of ours it says visa application fee is $131. Should I ignore the fact that the fees increased and pay the $131 or kiss mi teeth and pay the increase anyway?

Moved from Removal of Conditions forum to K-1 Forum as OP is asking about a K-1 visa

As the fees have increased, be prepared to pay the increased fee. It sounds like the Consulate hasn't updated their form letter yet.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Do NOT pay the increase unless they tell you. If their system tells your the $131 prepare for that. They will have you pay the difference at the consulate or something.. that is if they make you pay the difference. IF you pay more than the letter tells you (or any subsequent letter with payment update from the consulate) they will not accept the receipt. Trust me here. Someone paid a couple of dollars extra once and it caused all sorts of issues :S

I would email the embassy with your case number and ask them.. what could it hurt? Take a copy of the email with you on your interview in case they try to give you a different story come interview day. Seems the Jamaica consulate been acting shady lately.... just a bit of advice.. Good luck

I would agree that the embassy hasn't updated the form letter yet (what a shocker!) The fee has increased, I wouldn't risk not paying it - Email the embassy and ask them to provide you with written clarification - If you haven't paid the correct fee, it will only add to the delay.

Also, make sure you have an updated police report - In light of the Dudus stuff, the embassy in JA is requiring that people have police reports dated more recently than June 14, 2010

The consulates are notoriously slow when it comes to updating their paperwork and websites.

You can contact the consulate and they will confirm the new cost.

Most consulate websites I have visited have this info updated on the site but have not updated their mailings (packet info) yet. Imagine that!
