Should i be worried?

Hi all,

Today i received an AOS interview, for my husband and i to go to. My only concern is that they have scheduled it at 1:45pm. It wouldn't have bothered me usually, if i had not read other people's afternoon experiences, and i also read somewhere else that its usually a bad sign to get an afternoon appointment rather than a morning appointment.

I'm from the UK, entered the U.S on an F1 visa, and got married almost a year ago.

Am i worrying for nothing, or do i really have something to worry about?

Thanks in advance :)

I wouldn't be worried about it.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

We had a similar question on Visa Journey a while ago with the times reversed - that someone had heard morning interviews were 'bad' :).

Appointments are scheduled for when the interviewing officer has time. Sometimes they will be mornings and sometimes they will be afternoons. Try not to read more into it than that there was a space available in the interview schedule and they filled it with your name.

Good luck :).

Also, I've moved your thread from the AOS from a family visa forum to AOS from a work, student or visitor visa forum as you are adjusting from an F-1 visa based upon marriage to a US citizen, not a K-1 or K-3.

Look at it this way, the person interviewing you will be nice and full from their lunch and looking forward to ending the day in a few hours ;) I would rather have that then someone cranky who wants/needs a break and to eat and can't.

You will be fine, just relax. I did the interview before. My ex even got the first question they asked him wrong. What is your wife's middle name. But overall it took us 15 minutes. The hardest part is waiting for them to call your name.

We had a morning appointment but just as we were called the fire alarm went off! We weren't allowed back in until after lunch. The only problem that we had was that the wait was so long to clear security for the second time that both of us had to run for the loo. The interviewer was quite nice once we got into the office. I had brought two shopping bags full of documents, photos, letters, our wedding album, and other "evidence" but never opened any of it. The interviewer at one point asked with a smile, "Do you always hold hands like that?" I hadn't even thought about it and didn't even realize that we were holding hands but I answered a sheepish "Uh, yeah, I guess so." That was pretty much the end of the interview. I think that a lot depends on how you present yourself. They expect most people to be nervous. This is perhaps the second most important event after the wedding itself. But if you go in and look like complete strangers or like you can barely stand each other's presence then it might be a problem. But if you go in and actually look like you are in love it will make all the difference. (L)

Cheers ;)

I think there is a lot of truth to this. They watch what you do, what you say, how you say it, everything. I'm sure you'll have no problems though. :)
