They can tell where the computer was located... they get a warrant.. they seize the computer and get the evidence that it was used to solicit child porn.. and yes.. naked pics of a 14 year old girl is child porn! its a big deal and the guy is a sick **.. I'd end up in jail if it were my daughter the guy had been online with... and he would not be an issue anymore...

Awww the poor guy made 1 little mistake. BS. he's really a nice guy..BS. someone I know is a drunk that insists on driving drunk.. he has killed 2 people in DUI accidents.. yes more than 1 accident... just because he's a really nice guy doesnt change the fact that those 2 people are dead... Just because someone is nice does not make things better for the victims...

One must wonder how many other girls have been victims of this sick Fvcker...

Hacking is getting into someone's system to find things you have no right to be mucking about with.

Spoofing is impersonating someone else online by email.

I agree with ScottThuy in that there is something fishy with the OP's statement,

because if it's a case of spoofing that can be established by IT security pros

through the IP address & header information. Why debate the motives, etc.

A 14 year old is a CHILD. Your friend has attempted to receive child porn. He coerced the CHILD into it. Now he is guilty of manufacturing child porn. If he is in a different state then it becomes a federal issue. Some one that did the same to a 15 year old and here is what happened " He was charged with 10 counts of promoting child pornography by forcing a minor by threat to take pornographic photographs of herself, 10 counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior on a person under age 16, one count of extortion, and two counts of using a computer to seduce a child. Its only spoofing if they never hacked into the yahoo account and made it appear that they were him.. once they entered the account it was a hack...

No. Once he breaks the law there is no 'sparing for a good record'. Any sexual activity involving children is a big crime and there are strong and well-deserved penalties for such action. Having had a good reputation prior to committing the offense counts for nothing. He is tried and judged based on the offense, not on a 'good record'. His claim to a 'good moral character' is definitely dubious, as people with good moral characters do not go around trying to coerce or force or intimidate or tease - or anything - sexual with a minor - ever.

So your defense of the A-hole is based completely on the fact that the girl didn't comply? So if she had, then he should be convicted? Do you not see the error in your line of thinking?
