Hi everyone,

I am new to this and have been getting all the documents and information together to file the I-129F for the K-1.

And I am already confused, I just got back to the US after spending over 6 weeks with my fiance and had my fiance sign and date the 4 pages of his G-325A. Happy that I have that to send off with the I-129F petition.

Now, I am home (I am the petitioner) and I see there are new G325A forms, so I downloaded it, filled it out on my computer (for my biographical information) and now see that the new form is only 2 pages long.

I used an older G325A edition for him, as the new one was not available when I went to visit him earlier this summer (according to USCIS, previous editions are accepted). So, I am confused, the USCIS website on the "forms" page says that the G-325A is still 4 pages, but when you download it, it is only 1 page, plus the instruction page. So, right now his G-325A has 4 pages of biographical data (with different codes on the bottom), and mine only has 1 page of data. How can this be?

Anyone else, have this problem, or know what I may be doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciative, as I am trying to get this first step done right and begin the process.

Thank you!

You can still use the old form.

There is conflicting info coming from USCIS on the number of pages with the new form, I called them and they said the new form (2 pages, one fill in, one instruction) is all you need.

But they told Otto something different.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Ya - am still bothered by that - whoever you spoke to must have been right.. Would really like to get their official explanation on this... Single sheet makes so much more sense...

I'm only going to send in the new form - 1 page - when I have to AOS - to see what happens. :)

No, you aren't going crazy. It seems to be a real careless "update".

You know that previous versions are accepted, and I feel sure that if you send it in as you originally planned it will be fine. You know what to do and have done your research. Don't let second guessing when you know the answer paralyze you!

I'm only going to send in the new form - 1 page - when I have to AOS - to see what happens. :)

I am thinking of trying as well, if Nik lets me. :) (Unless we have sorted out by October)

But I think AOS might actually NEED fewer, so I'm not sure that it will translate to being alright for the visa petitions.

Ok, thanks everyone. I will do the old form (4 repetitive pages), to be consistent with my fiance's signed forms of the G-325A and hopefully that won't be an issue.

Thanks, this site is great and so HELPFUL :)

the problem with using the old pages is the date in the corner is expired

If you read on the site (and on the form sometimes) earlier versions are still accepted.

(however, has Ankara embassy told me, you would have to abide by the rules of that form, so if you used the older I-134, it would need to be notarized, unlike the newer one.)

Please report back whether you have the same font problem with the year fields in the residence and employment history sections that I and the Adobe tech support people had. You can always write the years by hand but there's apparently a font problem with the form as currently produced.

I had the same font problem with the year fields. I was using Adobe Acrobat Pro on Mac OSX. I spent quite awhile trying to change the font. I ended up writing that part by hand. BTW, I went with 4 copies of the new document.

will do

but from other threads - looks like we have some other victims testers before I get to that point.....

I just checked on my laptop (using acrobat pro 8) and I am not seeing any issues with the year fields in the sections you are seeing with the new form. Have a screen shot?

(I am seeing the clipping error in the date field for the signature - looks like they made the "fill in" box to small for the field size)

Same story with me! My husband filled out the old form two weeks ago after we got married in Finland, signed it, and I have his copy back here in the US. I didn't do mine yet so I'm sending in the new version. Old revisions are accepted so I think we're both good!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

Hmm. I had a similar issue with the DS230. Whatever date I put as the beneficiary's birthday would change by one day whenever you click outside of that field. But then when I click back in the field, it would show the correct date. I thought I was going crazy! So I got another version of the form and had the same thing happen.

Finally I just typed in the day before his birthday and it went up by one to show the right date when printed.

I'm using Acrobat Standard V. 9. You can duplicate what I'm seeing by typing too many characters in any field. It shows a plus sign at the far end of the field.
