Interesting. We are doing the K-3 for our family which is my spouse and three kids. Our estimated costs for four people are

$355 I-130 for spouse

$1400 Medical and travel to get medicals for four

$900 Visa cost for 4 and trip for interview

$1065 I-130 for kids

$3220 AOS for kids and spouse

$400 Passport pictures, documents, mailing fees, etc

$7340 is my total

Moving costs will be about $2000 and that includes our moving costs to get all four bodies down there. ha ha There may be a pyschiatrict evaluation recommended so not sure how much that will be, does anyone have any ideas, I am budgeting a $1000 plus $300 for the trip. Our passports also cost us $350.

My grand total comes to $10 990

I love being a Canadian.

Holy moly!

Wow but I have to keep telling myself that's for the whole family... you sound like a good dad and husband -- kudos to you and I hope your life with your family is

great -- then you'll get over the pain of 12 grand a little easier.

;)

Imaisha!

Ha!

I know, right? Well, at 10$ a pop, I guess it can add up. Just found out that I have to get mine redone so that they're US specific -- didn't even think of that.

Want a couple of really bad pics of me to put on your monitor? This way you can see what I look like while I'm yip-yapping away on here.

Yes. Of course I'm kidding!

120 passport photos

775 Medical / passport photo 275 and 150 x 3 another 50 in photos / Gas / additional 50 x 4 to have docs shipped not included ?

2400 trip to consulate and more passport photos

Wow where are you getting your passport photos done that they cost over $170? They'd better be printed on gold for that much!

Have you considered the IR/CR-1? Then you'll avoid that nasty $3220 for AOS. The visa fee will be higher- $400 each rather than $131 but I think you'll only have to pay one affidavit of support fee which is $70.

Well a CR1 visa for spouse and 3 CR2 would cost

$10990 - Cost of K3 and AOS (probably be an extra few dollars for AOS interview and any other unforseen expenses and if we have to redo the medicals add another $1000, but I am hoping that we will file before the year is up)

Less $3220 for AOS

Less $900 for K3 interview and visa

Plus $1600 for CR visa for four

Plus $70 for I-864

Plus $3500 for trip to Montreal for Visa Interview (Because of the fact that there is a high chance that my spouse will have to have a psychiatric evaluation, we are afraid she might have to go for another interview, which would add another few thousand)

Total Cost is $12040 for CR1 and CR2 for four

Wow where are you getting your passport photos done that they cost over $170? They'd better be printed on gold for that much!

Passport Photos (Done at Walmart)

4 people at 12.99 each (Plus Canadian taxes 13%)

Submitted to USICS $58.40

Submitted to NVC $58.40

Submitted to Medical $58.40

Submitted to Interview $58.40

For everything else their is MasterCard!

This was never a "Is it worth it thread" It was more of a "Let's make sure people know what they are getting into" thread. When I started the process I was aware of the following costs

USCIS 355 x 4

NVC AOS 70 x 1

NVC 400 x 4

Never really was able to find information about the medicals, shipping costs, etc, etc, etc. If I had the chance to go back in time I would still be doing the same just be more informed about it. I just thought this thread would be a good starting point for people to understand the costs of Immigration upfront with no more surprises!

Yup, prices differ everywhere. When we started the process hubby added up everything and said: To bring pain in the butt home - $1500 :P But after all these months I'd say it's more than that. Prices for shipping are different and you never know how many times you'll need to ship a package to USCIS/NVC. Plus Medical cost different in every country. I might save money now on medical as I'm pregnant, but I'm sure hubby will pay more after baby is born and when I'll need to get those missing vaccines.

I think it's a good thread for preparing people in their expectations how much the visa journey will cost them ;)

This was never a "Is it worth it thread" It was more of a "Let's make sure people know what they are getting into" thread. When I started the process I was aware of the following costs

USCIS 355 x 4

NVC AOS 70 x 1

NVC 400 x 4

You didn't find the info because you didn't come to the Canada forum enough

Anyway, I did a similar thread once in the Canada forum - I completely understand what you are saying and I agree it is important that people know what it actually costs so that they can save and be prepared.
