Not sure if anyone has tracked the costs on the CR-1/IR-1 process

Wife and 3 kids

1420 USCIS 355 x 4

1670 NVC 70 x 1 400 x 4

150 Shipping of docs so far

175 ordering Docs 35 x 5

120 passport photos

775 Medical / passport photo 275 and 150 x 3 another 50 in photos / Gas / additional 50 x 4 to have docs shipped not included ?

2400 trip to consulate and more passport photos

2700 trip to get family here flights

3000 U-Haul of House hold items/gas

Estimated total cost $12,410 ( not including any visits x 4 to see my family )

I'm broke!

My wife is just getting upset (having one of those days)

We sold our house in Canada so she is living with my mom

The kids are... well they are just being kids on summer holidays

Her having to take the kids to the medical (by herself)

her having to take the kids to the interview (by herself)

not knowing when any of this will happen

everybody asking her when she is moving

Additional cost of the medical she wasn't expecting,

Her not being here when I picked out our new home (that was soooo tough with her not being here)

and the list goes on

I will be making one more trip up there

I have setup a surprise going away party for the kids (invited all their friends)

and then a going away party for my wife (making her the center of attention and not me as it's always been)

but now I think it's a little too early to do so?

I have the kinda days your wife is having too - all part of being a woman. As much as I deny to have any emotions they do the get the better of me somedays.

When I started the process I never knew how much and wish I did, was expecting the USCIS and NVC costs, and a little more for moving

I just think this list would be nice to have in advance, not to scare anyone, but to know.

Wow where are you getting your passport photos done that they cost over $170? They'd better be printed on gold for that much!

It is quite a shock when you add everything up and the list keeps growing as time goes on!

But as everyone else has said it will be worth it in the end. Hang in there, you are almost there!
