98 here in East Texas-but it looks like it might rain

Liefde is een bloem zo teer dat hij knakt bij de minste aanraking en zo sterk dat niets zijn groei in de weg staat

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

95F right now in the desert of Washington State. 101 tomorrow. Pretty normal.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

It is absolutely beautiful here today - substantially cooler than it has been the last two weeks! 89 degrees with only 31% RH and a lovely breeze with beautiful blue skies. This is much easier to take than the upper 90s and high humidity we have been having. Oh, yes - we also need rain.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

The two thermometers on my patio are hovering right at 100*F in the shade and the local weather is showing 42% humidity online here in Houston. It's abnormally hot and dry vs. normally hot and humid. Normally Houston is like a sauna outside in the summer because of the humidity and semi-tropical climate, but we are in a drought and dry as a bone. My lawn is turning brown and dying in spite of watering.

U.S. General Philip Henry Sheridan in 1866 said, “If I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent out Texas and live in Hell.”

I'd say the boy was on to something. True dat! ;)

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Low 70's and going up to the 80's starting tomorrow.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
