I filed my I129F over 9 months ago and have not recieved anything but the letter they send you when you do an inquiry . It shows outside processing time and says they are reviewing my case . I have an immigration attorney but he seems to be at a lost also. He supposedly contacted a Senator to help out but no word as yet. Since I cannot contact them directley except for the customer service reps that take down the information. I am starting to loose hope. I filed in Vermont back in September 2005 . All the paperwork was in order . My fiancee is from Albania and we are heartbroken . Does anyone know of this taking as long as my case and could give me a glimmer of hope with some information? Also can someone explain to me what an NOA1 exactly is and when you should normally recieve it. I assume it is the first letter of acceptance . :(

I would do more then that I would get on your lawyer.. Well I guess it depends on what was promised when you hired them... Most immi lawyers say they do everything from start to AOS this guy doesnt seem to be doing much .. Especially since its vermont and they are on top of the game compared to the others. I highly doubt that the senator was contacted.. they would be apalled to hear how long its taken.. Not only that but I am sure all those politicians just love to rip the other groups apart :)

NOA1 is the receipt notice they sent to you by USCIS in about a week or two from the time you sent the application.

9 months is way beyond normal - especially for Vermont. Maybe someone else who is using a lawyer can correct me if I am wrong, but I see no reason why you cannot contact both customer service at Vermont for an explanation AND get your senator involved separate from the lawyer, if he is not doing his job. The starting point is a conversation with your lawyer - who did he contact at Vermont and exactly what was the explanation for the delay? Which senator did he contact and when? Normally for a senator to investigate on behalf of a constituent, you would need to fill out the privacy release first. So I'm not sure how they lawyer could have done this. Again, maybe he has the ability to do so on your behalf and if that is the case, then he should be able to provide with specifics on who he contacted and when. Push him hard for answers because this is not normal. Good luck.

by chance, did you move? maybe a screw up in the mail? although your online status would show where you're at but you never know. i've heard horror stories of cases being canned due to CIS not updating change of addresses when received.

also, i didn't have to sign anything at my congresswoman's office. also better to go there in person and ask for help one on one. the woman who helped me got on the phone right away and found out where my case was.

another tip - try the state dept. very helpful in the beginning when our case was recalled - only govt. branch that gave me solid info - even told me about imbra when CIS and NVC didn't! 202-663-1225

and, get your money back from the lawyer! i find it hard to believe that an immi lawyer can't get info from CIS and has to go to a senator.

and persistence pays.

Im missing something here. Waiting 9 months for what?? Do you have a case number in the letter that you have from USCIS??

Didi you receive a document that we call a NOA-1?

Did they cash your check??

or are you waiting for your case approval......what are you looking for??

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

I suggest you find out what your NOA1 case number is from your lawyer, and call Vermont to inquire the status of your case. Even if I had a lawyer I would be actively involved in my petition. As a lot of people here have pointed out 9 months is too long for Vermont and you are pre-IMBRA. Best of luck. (F)

I fircked out after 9 days start calling!!!.

Thanks for all your replies . Just a clarification . My lawyer started the process and sent the paperwork. I have a Reciept number (EAD#) and have copies of letters recieved from inquirys from the service center . Every 60 days I now do the inquiry and my lawyer gets a copy . I'm quite disturbed in the fact that some of the posts here suggest that you can actually contact someone at the service center and get more information about your case . I have never got passed the customer service rep ; as they state " That they will send a letter confirming my inquiry and that my case is still under review and that is the only information they can give me." They cashed my check back in October. I obviously need to contact my congressman myself ; which I will do right away . I appreciate the feedback. :(
