Actually her best bet is to take the time it takes to approve her petition to study and learn how to prepare the best possible file. It isn't that it is a bad idea to contact her representative, but it would be better served to introduce yourself, and let them know about your case, and ask them if she can request their assist if they should run into any problems in the future. Just don't try to abuse it by requesting special treatment over and above any of the other filers.

agreed.... give it a few more months!!

basically, to see if i can a shortcut, or get looked at in 1 month, or 2, instead of 5 or 6.

Thats why i asked whether the fact that i am writing to my congressmen so shortly would pi%^ them off??

why should you be entitled to that when everyone else has to wait?

I think some people got excited about your post because everyone has to put up with the long wait. It took 4 months 12 days between our NOA1 and NOA2. I doub't if my Congressman would have had much impact to speed things up for me. You may want to read the "Q&A Session with a former USCIS Adjudicator" found in the Guides section of this website. It is a little dated, and a little bit funny, but it gives an interesting perspective of the process from that side of the fence.

This is the best advice I've seen here. Once you have the NOA1, which will provide the case number, then simply let your congressman's office know of this petition and the fact that down the road, you might be asking for advice from them. Basically, congressmen can't interfere with the decisions of USCIS, but they can help when a case seems to be lost in the system. That would be 5-6 months from now, if by then you haven't received your NOA2, i.e, approval of petition.

I think you should write a letter to your fiancee/wife, or at least a nice mushy email every week (or day/hour/minute if you like). Sure they would love to read it at the interview, and it will show contenued relationship also.

PS.. I feel your pain on the wait...and the need to want to do something, heh. i check my status and mail everyday since i sent the petition. LoL.. like im gonna get approved in 2 days.. haha.

Ah no, why should you get to jump the queue when the rest of us have to wait?

it can actually delay your process further if you do an inquiry via your congress before 6 months.. Also some Congress wont even do it unless its been more then 6 months.. But good luck to you

Does this actually work?

Or will it just pi$% them off and make them want to put my folder to the back of the line?

Wish I could be in your shoes.... a couple of months into it and wanting to contact congress.... I didn't even bat an eye at 6 months waiting, I just expected it to take a while. Nowadays I am nauseous over it.

I do hope your case processes quickly and that you won't have to wait as long as we are.
