@Eric: congrats on little Roland! What a hands-on daddy! He is so precious!

@Zaid and Declan: hope you boys feel better soon! Can I join you? Ben's constipation got so bad over the weekend, he now has 3 hemorrhoids (sp?) and they are bleeding. His pedi called the gastroenterologist and we were moved in for an emergency appointment this morning. He is now on several laxatives for the next 2 months, until his rectum heals, then some further diagnostics. I really hope he will finally get better. It was so traumatizing when they checked his rectum. :crying:

Daddy bought him a Happy birthday balloon for being so brave at the doctor.

our poor boys :( Hemoroids on a babys bum have got to be terrible. I hope the laxatives help get things going.

Zaid is doing better this morning., He has kept down water and a banana and a little diluted gatorade. I feel so bad for him. I dont think he is sick, i think the watermelon my hubby gave him yesterday didnt sit on his tummy right. aside from being a little cranky due to lack of sleep he is acting normal.

Zaids party is may 9th, but his birthday is tomorrow. I am going to make cupcakes and we will give him a few small gifts and I think his power wheels. It should be exciting!!

Poor Ben .... hope he feels better and the gastroenterologist can figure out what is wrong and fix it!!!

@ Kelly, Declan's party is May 9th also. His birthday is May 8. We're having a cookout (hopefully the weather cooperates). I think I am going to make cupcakes instead of a big cake.

Girls (& guys)...

Eric@ Roland is so cute, congrats for the new daddy and mommy!

Chrissy@ you are almost there, how are you feeling???

I hope Ben,Zaid and Declan feel better, Sofia is having some problems with gases, she was alright but since last weekend she is very gasy and it is very painful for her, she makes faces and cries alot. We feel really bad for her, we are giving her some drops (I don't remember the name right now) and they work really well but we don't want her to depend on the medicine all the time. We burp her all the time and but even that she has that , anyone with a similar problem?

Today we had 90F in NYC, crazy weather!! tomorrow we are going down to 58F,

My parents are being super helpful, they are taking the baby to sleep with them so Sil and me can have some rest, aren't they awesome? :star:

Gotta

go

Hugs

Vi, are you supplementing with formula? I know alot of my friends who breastfed and then used some formula, their kids turned out to have terrible stomachs. One is on soy, one on nutramigen, and one on goats milk. The gas drops are mylicon, and they do seem to work great, hope sofia feels better soon., gas in infants is awful

Okay, ladies, need advice again. Declan is such an active little boy, which is wonderful, except for when I need to change his diaper. He absolutely hates lying on his back and squirms and rolls around and crawls away, unless I hold him firmly and then he screams and cries. I have tried distracting him with toys or making funny faces. That worked initially, but now, it seems like all he wants to do is be on the go and staying still for a diaper change is not in his game plan. I don't mind so much when it is just a pee diaper. I've figured out how to chase him and diaper him at the same time. It is the poop ones that are the trouble. HELP!!!

I would always ask my son to be my big helper and give him the new diaper to hold. As he got older, my daughter started something that I think is brilliant. Start working with Declan about where his eyes, nose, mouth, etc are. My daughter will change my son's diaper and all the while ask him to point to his eyes, nose, etc. It keeps his hands occupied. It is wonderful to watch.

Ladies - today, I admitted defeat - I gave up pumping. I could no longer justify the time it took (45 minutes) to produce so little (1 ounce) each time that I pumped. It truly does suck to fail at this - I wanted this so much for Enzo. I had such high hopes when I was pregnant about how the nurses would put him on my breast after he was born...alas, that dream didn't come true - I had the nightmare instead - a baby who had to stay in his ICU and a mother who couldn't leave her room because of surgery. I believed I would be able to breastfeed, but I had a mountain of factors working against me - csection, NICU, inverted nipples, Enzo's nipple preference, dehydration, thyroid disease, and diabetes...yes, the list is long and somewhat distinguished. It killed me to give it up - I have tried teas, reglan, breast shields, breast massage, double pumping, single pumping, multiple pumping sessions (pump one side/then the other/come back and repump breast), various pump types, lactation consultants, breastfeeding support groups, breastfeeding forums and yet, I couldn't make it happen for me. I'm so tired of people saying that breastmilk is the best for my baby and they talk about formula as if it is from Satan - well, yeah, no sh!t - but what do you do if you have more strikes against you than you can imagine? You go to the stores and begin to price formula. And as my friend whose wife just had a double mastectomy put it so eloquently - "what the hell do you do if you don't have breasts?" - dammit, you go out and buy formula. So that's where I am. Forgive me, I just had to vent.

@ Vi - I have the simethicone drops from Argentina - they work wonders. Plus, when I give Enzo formula, I use te de manzanilla o de estrella de anis instead of water. It helps him with his stomach. My mother in law also uses manzanilla for Enzo's baby acne - cleared it up in two days.

@Kelly - I can't believe Zaid will be 1 tomorrow. :dance:

@ Eric - congrats on a sweet baby boy!

Everyone else - stay strong, fight the power.
