Yes, why wealthy people are so greedy? My father in law says he will spend all his money before he dies so we don't get anything. While my mom who doesn't have much money saves for my son's college.

Maybe rich people are so rich because they just don't share?

Well... there's a lot more to it than that. However, your father-in-law is being a jerk, plain and simple. Wealth matters little when it comes to being an a$$hole.

We got a Wii from my MIL.

We do not have, nor want, a TV.

What to do...

I'd suggest selling it on Ebay or Craigslist. They're a hot item and often sell ABOVE retail price ($250) due to high demand.

I was screamed at and called stupid for my engagement for Christmas.

I've often wondered who would purchase an item on eBay if it's the same price or more than in retail stores. That seems to defeat the entire purpose of online vendors (such as Amazon or eBay).

You were "screamed and yelled at" for your engagement? Why?

A Wii is an awesome gift, if the sender understands the recipients ability to appreciate or use it. Given the OP's comments, I surmise that the "sender" knew the "recipient" does not have a television in the house.

I would then classify this gift as "malicious".

That is sad indeed.

Christmas Eve I asked my mother if she was excited for me, and out of nowhere she started screaming at me and called me stupid for planning to get married to my fiancé. Then my father tried to "console" me the following day, but basically reinforced everything my mother had screamed at me. Yet neither of them can say anything bad about his personality or how he treats me. Yep, that was my "gift." Never got an apology.

I feel better though that somebody cares. Thank you. hug5.gif

Sorry to hear, panamania79, that this is common in your family. I grew up in that atmosphere (my mother constantly screaming), and I know how unpleasant it is. I guess the lesson from it is to not do the same to your loved ones and appreciate those who treat you well. I always think it's so sad people rarely say the positive things out loud. I think that makes a better gift than most of the ####### people give to each other.
