There's not a "little wrong" way to abuse a child.

Sure there is.

Not the way I was brought up. But again, feel free to prioritize wrong.

We got a Wii from my MIL.

We do not have, nor want, a TV.

What to do...

Sell it on eBay. Duh. :innocent:

my poor daughter got a big fat NOTHING from her grandparents on the ex's side. they told her ahead of time that they were not doing a gift exchange this year so she didnt expect nothing....i guess the they meant they were not haveing a gift exchange with her but everyone else they baught for. i felt so bad for her.

That is beyond fcuked up. To me, that puts them in the same category as pedophiles. Anyone that would harm a child is nothing but SICK!

No Christmas gift is the same as sexual abuse?

No...didn't say it was the same...but to me all child abuse, sexual, mental, physical is wrong. Feel free to prioritize as you wish, but to me wrong is wrong.

There's not a "little wrong" way to abuse a child.

Yeah, you kinda did....

So brakes and tires being in the same category makes them the same thing?

Maybe we're just working from a different language...or maybe you need someone with you when you go to an auto mechanic.

ha! I got DVDs and I don't have a tv either...

News Flash....you can play DVDs on a computer.

Something tells me you at least have ACCESS to a computer....I'm just guessing.

As for you folks without TVs...what's with that?

I know there's not much more than ####### on broadcast TV, I use mine to watch DVDs

or play my Wii about 99% of the time. I do turn it for things like the debates, election results,

or such...but can do without the game-shows, music videos, and stupid sit-coms.

For the same reason, I don't listen to much radio...but I do have a radio and TV.

Are you folks trying to prove something...if so, what is it?

As for the Wii....let me know when the bidding starts. We've got two...but there's

always room to adopt another. :)

My ridiculous gift...mom gave me ANOTHER travel bag and cologne.

I gave her a new car....was hoping for a sweater in return. :)

Wow, can I adopt you?

Yes I play my DVDs on my laptop (at least it's a sexy 17").

As for the anti-TV thing, there are a number of reasons and at the bottom of the list would be that I was quite the gypsy for a while...living on boats and house-sitting for almost ten years. And, I just really did not need nor want it. Did not have time to watch it anyways. Worked full-time, karate training/teaching every night, hiking/playing and/or tournaments on weekends...oh what a life...and then after I stopped teaching I got bitten by the sailing bug and so almost all my time was spent racing or sailing....and working on boats.

I am going to try to limit my time on-line too.

More time left to read. I am researching all kinds of interesting stuff.

I could not live in a world without music though!

Never!!!

If you would like the Wii (with extra remote and nunchuk thingy), please let me know.

It is currently on craigslist.

There.

My life story.

Live on VJ! Hahahahahaha!!!

We don't 'do' Christmas. We do immediate family only (the kids and each other) and everyone else gets either photos or candy. Too much stress. We go see a show as a family. This year Nutcracker, next year maybe Handel's Messiah, and we do a bunch of fun stuff together for free. I hate all the materialism.

I need my husband to buy into this. Christmas has become a mad shopping frenzy upping each years price by the rate of inflation. its just getting stupid at this point.

I'd say the main culprits are the media and commercials. The news media talks about "Black Friday" non-stop when it's getting close to the holidays and stores inundate TV viewers with rampant ads for their products. With those two in places, shoppers get hyped up and storm malls and individual stores in the high hopes of getting an overpriced item at 30-50% off.

Yup.

Throw away your TVs and turn off commercial radio.

Quickly let go and forget all that is sheep-like behaviour/mentality.

Invent your own way of celebrating every thing.

Write your own script!!! Yeah baby.

ENJOY!
