I'm jealous of you guys! My inlaws are here on a visit, and the FIL is driving me insane! Maybe I exaggerate my feelings a bit, but I dont feel I need a 45 minute explanation of how a microwave works, or wrong facts on American life... from a foreigner! For example, a recent one was "walmart is the first supermarket in the US" ummm, no it wasnt. So he'll make up excuses and reasoning to try to prove his point, even though he's wrong.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

I'm sorry. I think we all get it to bizarre misconceptions at some point though with our foreign relatives. Part of the game.

My future MIL is .....well words cant actually describe how bad of a person she is. I often wonder how my husband to be turned out pretty normal! I will always be the white girl who got in the way of him finding a nice black girl. Luckily I dont have to deal with anymore since they had a falling out and plus, we moved to ireland so that 500 miles inbetween helps tool

I have talked with my MIL only once and well its safe to say I am never going to talk to her again :) My husband keeps his distance too, so it doesn't really matter.

Now my FIL is a total different story, I just love that old man. We talk a lot and soon I will be going to visit him in another few days time, so I am really looking forward to it.

I am excited now. I used to be more nervous but I have gotten to know them better over the internet on mic over the past months. I think they feel like they know me better, so that makes me less nervous. It's less formal feeling and more friendly. :)

Sweet! How long are you staying over there? I hope long enough to pick a few more things up from the language, even if it is just simple nouns or commands. I bet they can't wait to see Kavi. :)

My in-laws haven't seen their granddaughter in 21 months. My daughter wasn't even walking when we left and now she will run you over. My MIL might explode soon from excitement.

Well, because of Sujeet having a newer job, we won't be able to be there for more than a week and a half (or less). The vacation days still need to accumulate since he started working the end of October. So that's why we are waiting til the end of Feb or beginning or March to go now.

When are you guys going to visit them again? I don't remember which month you had said. It's hard when family is far away. Sujeet's family is dying to meet Kavi. (They want to meet me too, but you know Kavi is the star now:P)

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Anytime over there is still time. Maybe you could pick up some subtitled DVDs in your ILs language or so to practice listening with at home. :)

We're leaving on Monday, weather permitting. We'll be there until the middle of January. Though the trip there won't be that bad (all night), the trip back is a complete 10 hour day flight for my daughter. :help:
